Dyno numbers are useless! PDF Print E-mail
Written by GrantC

Do I have your attention now?

We all know that dyno comparisons (unless they're back to back, and even then weather & temperature can change) can have far more variables than you'd expect.

Two "identical" cars might have different gasoline, different weather, or even different amounts of heatsoak.

Now, thanks to our own Sunny of Airboy Tuning we have another variable you might not have even considered...  Your tires!  No, I'm not talking about the difference between some 20" chrome spinners and some lightweight motorsports rims.  I mean your actual tires & how much they're deforming.

Just something else to keep in mind if the goal of  your build is a particular dyno result...

Ever wished that there was a place to find some of the shared knowledge on Subaru that our members have?  Or a place for you to share a nice writeup so the next person won't have to do it the way you did?

Husky 90 is no more PDF Print E-mail

Some people prefer 91 octane non-ethanol gas.  Some people want all the octane they can get and are willing to trade off fuel economy (or a wonky fuel gauge).

Husky has always offered ethanol blended gasoline for higher octane, and their 90 octane was made with 87 octane feedstock + ethanol.  For the price of regular gas it was a great performance bargain http://www.westernsubaruclub.com/smf/index.php?topic=9061.0 (and showed great tuning results: http://www.westernsubaruclub.com/smf/index.php?topic=20038.0 http://www.westernsubaruclub.com/smf/index.php?topic=2034.0)

However, with new legislation requiring an average 5% ethanol in the fuel at the pumps, H90 is no more as non-ethanol 87 feedstock is no longer being produced.

Thread about the demise of H90 here: http://www.westernsubaruclub.com/smf/index.php?topic=18684.msg280193#msg280193
