I pre-ordered GT5 a couple weeks ago. Decided to do some Christmas shopping well I was there. Pre-ordered DJ Hero, Tony Hawk Ride, and Super Mario Wii. Should make the kids happy and I wouldn't mind playing all three.

GT PSP is good but not great. I think it's stupid you can't access all dealer at once. I've been playing for three days and still no Suby. Can you get an 06/07 STi?

I got subies in the first day. It must be random - and it's only certain cars each time.

I didn't see an 07 first time around, but I got a 22B and the prodrive bugeye (Which has the 06 style kinda fog covers - neat)

Ok, so we all now know that GT5 isn't coming out in December ... heck at this rate we will be lucky to get it by next Christmas  >:( So to tide us over they have released a time trial in a Nissan 370Z. Though this was a good review.

Yeah - I've been playing too much PSP.  It's a real kick to be able to use a 94 STi, and check it vs the VII's, III's etc.  Man, in the game, the subies are way too easy.. Pick a subie WRX or STi and you're guaranteed a win virtually..
time trials too seem to be Subie territory.  I've been able to beat my subie times with a Skyline GTR, but nothing else really in the same class (sure the RUF or high end cars will walk on STi's, I'm comparing with Lancer GSR's Nissan's, Celica's etc...

GT5's release has been delayed indefinitely. Sony didn't indicate on its web site what caused the delay, saying only, "We apologize for any inconvenience."
I don't even know what to say. This is so annoying. I am thinking of buying an XBox just so I can play a freak'n car game. I might have to buy a PS4 to play GT5 at this rate

This is quickly turning into the video game version of GnR's Chinese Democracy album.  No matter how good it is, it will never be good enough once it's for sale.  The game simply won't be able to live up to the multi-year hype.

Release it already, dammit!

That album never had a chance of being any good.

That album never had a chance of being any good.

But if Chinese Democracy was released in a short year or two nobody would have cared whether it sucked or was good.  Dragging that album out for years prevented it from ever having a chance to meet the way overblown hype.

Dragging the release of any kind of media based product (like GT5) is never going to make it that much better to warrant the extra production costs.  Release it and if there are problems or quirks fix it in the next rendition (if sales warrant another version).  By the time they fix GT5 to be "perfect" there will be another platform or two released and their $60M game won't be able to sell enough copies to meet costs because it's not on the newest platform or the graphics need to be reworked for the latest TV technology.

Waiting could cost them a lot more in the long run than just shipping what they have and starting work on GT6.  I've never been more tempted to buy an Xbox :(

I hear sony broke the threshole between reality and videogames, the original tester of the final version died. Hit a wall in the game, BAM, flew face first into the T.V and died. True story.

Post script; im effing choked the games not comming out. Its fantastic.

Looks like my post in the thread GT5 will be released on December 29, 2009  seems to be right on the money.

When ever I see a release date for GT5; I always think to myself "I'll believe it when I see it."

I'm sort of thinking it's been like over 1.5 years since GT5: Prologue, and 4 years since GT4. I'm having a feeling they'll skip GT5 and rename this one GT6.

Did anyone see this though?
http://www.gtplanet.net/gran-turismo-5s-gps-functionality-3d-confirmed/

Quote
Here’s some of the first news to come out of the Tokyo Auto Salon 2010: Polyphony Digital has partnered with auto technology company Denso to develop a “GPS-track day unit”, one of which will be included in the new Toyota FT-86G. It works by monitoring your position as you put in hot laps around a real-world track (which is also in GT5, of course). Pull the memory card out of your car and plug it into your PS3, and the data collected will be used to reconstruct your lap within the game. From there, you’ll be able to watch your replay or compete against yourself by loading the replay as a “ghost” car.

According to MotorTrend, Polyphony and Denso’s GPS unit was tested in a race-spec Lexus IS-F at the Nurburgring last October (probably during Yamauchi’s VLN race). MotorTrend editor Peter Lyon was also able to confirm that a “3D version” of GT5 will be available “as soon as 3D TVs become available on the market,” (Sony’s 3D TVs will be available this summer).

Thanks to Snaeper for sending this in!
