I learned that lesson first hand at Lake Louise when I ended up in a 4 foot deep tree well headfirst and on my back.  It's hard to get the bindings undone! And once that's done, trying to swim yourself around and climb out is another challenge in deep snow. It's a good way to waste half an hour of your day.

2 sticks is the way to go, if we're starting a debate.  ;D

I hope I can get out some this year, baby comes on Dec 1 and I don't know how much I'll be able to get out!!  I desperately want new boots, but I did get a sweet new Decente jacket that makes me look like the fastest moving pylon you've ever seen.  Mighty, mighty, orange.  :D

Heh, sure skis are the way to go if you want to be all safe... but chicks digs scars, and frankly I love accumulating stories that involve:
  • ...and that's why this is the farthest I can move [blank] in this direction
  • ...so Grant looks up, and sees me flying by yelling "...this is going to hurt!!!..."
  • ...so I start turning around the tree, and then the next thing I remember is looking up at the sky and my ears are ringing...
  • ...and I manage to come to a stop, and look up to see there's a tree branch pointing straight between my eyes, about an inch away from my goggles...
  • ...so I just said 'uckfay it' and slid face first down the ice for the rest of the run...
  • ...and so on.

I understand you can get these stories on skis too, but I just don't seem to have the (skied for years before I tried snowboarding).

Ahh yes the season is soon be upon us. It will soon be time to look at the boards, plural in my case if you didnt already get it.... Pull out all the tuning equipment and do the pre season tune that I meant to do when I hung them up in the spring.
In my case I have Rossi 165 sl skis for those icy days, Atomic Sugar Daddy's for powder days, and Fischer Cold Heat for every other day.
Again this year I will have the goal of skiing my age.... and that takes commitment.
If any of you want to ski with me, every Saturday and Sunday morning during the season you will find me in the Fernie Slopeside at 8:30am getting ready. My buddies and I have skied for over 40 years on average, so please just try to keep up....

Cheers
