time to change mine too!  might just order it from subarugenuineparts.com comes to $46.36 shipping through UPS.  Does anyone know if UPS will charge me brokerage fees once it crosses the boarder or is it below a certain cost?

always, they always will

UPS will charge you a $30 ($40 for oversized items) brokerage flat fee. PLUS tax, PLUS duties.

I made my own last night!  I bought a 3M 1x25x20 super duper furnace air filter rated at 1700 something something.  Anyway, from that size you can make 6 filters.  I superimposed the old filter over the new ones and the size matches.  Tonight I'll toss one in and reinstall my glove box.

If anyone is still interested I could sell a couple for 10 bucks each to make back some of the cost.

Here's the link i used to get the technical know how if you want to try this yourself.

SubieGal (subarugenuineparts.com) shipped my last order USPS (on request) and even declared half the actual value ... so I payed ~$8 brokerage fees + GST.  USPS is the way to go.

Whe I checked at the dealer it was $88!! That's crazy, it's the cheapest filter ever. Apparently Fram makes one now and you can get them at CT.  Probably way cheaper if that's the case.  I'm gonna go look soon...

I don't know if my car has one in it. I don't think all of them came with one installed, I think it was a option on some years.  They all have the spot for it.  I could be talking out my assay too, I'm just saying what I've heard.

Funny that this was brought up again but I'm not surprised and Sean, Stu and I were discussing this over the weekend.  I just did mine yesterday with a regular furnace filter and it worked out great.  To get rid any sort of smells, I sprayed the filter with some room deodorizer and needless to say, my car hasn't smelt this fresh, well...ever. :P

Here's some reading material that Stu gave me.  The NASIOC link was done by our very own Honz.

I think you'd be surprised.

Some cars are reported to not even have a filter in that compartment.  Mine didn't come with one.

I heard that to, it's behind the glove compartment right? Would be interesting to see because i get a ton of crap on my dash for the vents.

You most likely don't have one then.  My dash is pretty much filthy at all times, I think this will help.

The install is right behind the glove box - 9 screws and a panel, very simple.  Just check out those links that I posted.

Worst case scenario if I can't get it as sturdy as factory its 13 dollars, I didn't splurge for the expensive one...

Im near a napa at work, might give em a ring tomorrow.
