Flex, Do you sell the peaberry beans?  I'm not sure what the big difference between those and the regular "beans" other than the fact that they seem smaller, but for some reason (maybe it's my mouth dyno) they taste a little better than regular beans.

The peaberry are Kona Coffee beans from Hawaii.
They're going to park their car over there. You're going to park your car over here. Get it?

Oh, I would be VERY interested if you have Kona beans as well. I love the stuff and I agree with the Claw, they taste a lot better to me.

If you guys ever come across Cafe Del Doge, try it. It is a "blend composed of 100% Arabica beans from Brasil, Colombia, Guatemala and India. Each cultivar is roasted separately, and is then “cold-blended” as dictated by the Venetian tradition". Basically its the best coffee I've ever had. They have a couple Cafe's in Venice, one in New York and one in Egypt. Oh man is it good... im drooling now.
Go home Subaru. You're drunk.

Some of the best coffee I've had came from venezuela.  Sadly, the price ceilings impose by Hugo Chavez make it uneconomical to ship the beans further than 500m from the plantations.  However, if you can get there you can get some sweet beans.  Nothing like going for a coffee while your beans are roasting, coming back and picking up your still warm bag.

That my friends is good coffee.
You aren't mistaken; this post was solid gold.

Flex, what is the optimal bean that you guys sell for espresso (and more, for making all the lattes and cappucinos)?

I've got a machine on the way to me, and I want to start out with the same kind of stuff you guys use, since my preferred coffee is from second cup.

The coffee we use for all the lattes and caps is the expresso forte....we can get it to you gorund or unground. we sell them in 1lb bags. If you want a bigger bag we can sell you the size we get from our supplier. Its a 2.2 lb bag but we can sell it to you for the price of 2lbs.

Not sure on the peaberry beans.....I have never heard of them before. We do have coffees from all over the world that we sell. My wife is the best one to talk to she is the expert on this. I'm just the rookie and still learning.... ;D

Does anyone use the espresso "pods"?
I know, probably not as great quality as fresh ground beans...
But I'm kinda lazy, and don't like the cleanup I have to go through.

Are there different flavors of beans that you can get in pod form?
Are they a safeway purchase? Or a "Gotta order from the columbian drug lord" type deal?

we have a single cup coffee maker that uses the pods. You can get the pods lots of places (walmart, safeway, London Drugs) They have flavors to. They are good, not as good as fresh ground mind you but you can't beat them for speed and convienience.

Does second cup sell the pods? ;)

My maker can use pods. I'm looking for the expresso forte type quality, and perhaps some flavored ones to make it extra caramel-y or extra vanilla-y.

Thanks!

I checked costco (their site said they have them) and safeway. No dice. Funny how safeway sells the crappy starbucks overpriced proprietary espresso maker pods, but not the ESE standard universal pod that every other espresso maker is capable of using. :P

Of the half dozen espresso threads, I thought I'd bump this one.

My setup, for no reason other than I'm bored and took some pics.

Espresso maker. It was free courtesy of AirMiles.

Pods, for those lazy days when I don't want to clean up after myself. (ie. every day)

Syrup for the various lattes.

The "white powder". Caramel something something. I threw away the package, so I don't remember what it's called. Just go to second cup, ask for "the white caramel powder for Caramel Caretto".

Mexican vanilla, for the vanilla lattes. I ran out of beans, but I usually order a half dozen vanilla beans every few months from Hawaii, for the superior vanilla bean latte.
Also, I use vanilla in almost everything. I'll go through this bottle in about 6 months.

The most recent acquirement.
Krups GVX2 burr grinder.

My latest most favoritest of coffees.

And for when I want the fancyness of a latte at night, but need to go to bed...

Had my espresso machine apart as it was acting up.  Descaled, replaced the group head gasket and removed the level probes and vacuum pressure relief valve and cleaned and re-assembled.  Doing a boiler flush now.

5$ to fix.   I love this thing.  It's so nice to have my own good coffee at home :-)
