Tapatalk compatibility?
« on: November 12, 2009, 01:10:30 PM »
Any thoughts on updating the vBulletin so iPhone users can run Tapatalk and connect to the the forum without having to slog through Safari?

You aren't mistaken; this post was solid gold.

We're not using vBulletin, we're using Simple Machines Forum.

Wow... when I googled to check for Tapatalk compatability on SMF, check out the first entry:

http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=54341.0

It's someone on an SMF forum requesting it, and someone named "Grant" making a post with a quote from their FAQ...  But it's not WSC!

Eerie.

mtbr.com is investigating it, which is why I've suggested it.

BTW, nice sequential posting.  :cops:

I believe you are all ignoring the fact that this is now the best possible outcome of this thread:

GrantC now has a new title.
And it will be used.

I have been using tapatalk for a month now and would love it if the WSC was tapatalk compatible. Any more talk about it?

A: Currently phpBB3 3.0.x, vBulletin 3.7.x/3.8.x/4.0.x, Invision Power Board (IPB) 3.0.x and Simple Machine Forum (SMF) 1.1.x/2.0.x are supported.

From their FAQ, so it maybe possible now :)  However, the admins had to remove add ons in the past because they made the forums unstable.

So as jer mentioned we've added the tapatalk mod to the forums.  You should be able to find WSC in tapatalk by searching for "subaru" or something similar from within the tapatalk client on whatever device you're using.

I noticed that there are a few small inconsistencies when browsing the forums via the tapatalk client.  For instance uploading an image with a post didn't seem to work for me, but I could have been doing it wrong.  Also I had the client crap out and crash on me at one point.  In general though it seems pretty slick.  If anyone notices anything else please let us know either here or in the bugs forum.

Maybe so people don't use the app to take rude pictures and post them while in the bathroom? It's a feature, not a bug!

There's a free version if you're cheap enough to be able to deal with read only access to the forums  ;)

So they came out with a new version that essentially copies the "Show new posts to your replies" feature. However, it says that the forum plugin is out of date when trying to use that feature..?

I get that when i try to auto-sign in.  Then I try to re-sign in and it says I have the wrong user name which i don't.  I'm no pro but it sounds like the server side of stuff is in need of an update to it's plug-ins.  Or something.  I'm sure there are other people here more in touch with their inner nerd than I who can answer this for sure.
