Apparently this has become a "hot button" topic.

Everyone has the ability to lock their own threads. You do not need to tell a mod to do it.
If you are lazy, you can do it the easy way.
Go into the section where your thread is located.
Find your thread, and look waaaaay over to the right.
See this fancy button?
Click it!I know. Pretty tough eh?
How about this one?
Go into your thread, and scroll to the very bottom.
On the left side is this very obvious fancy button:
Wow! Challenging.
Now, if you really want to be difficult, you can do it the long way.
1. Open your thread, and look to the right side of the very first post. Click "Modify".
2. At the bottom, open the "Additional Options"
3. Check the box "Lock Topic"
4. Click "Save"
5. It will now bring you back to the main post. You will notice you can no longer "Modify" or "Reply" to the thread.
6. You will also notice various indications on the main page, showing that it is locked.
Tricky eh?
