I didn't think husky had 91 anymore?

I meant 92.  AMA bucks are nice.

Im running Husky 94. Shell is easier to find, but i like having the extra octane.

+1

But I'm trying to plan a summer vacation/road trip and being tuned for H94 it occurred to me that I know have to find a route that will allow me to get the fuel I need. Should be fun.

Yea, they all switched over in the winter of 08.

I run Husky if I feel like it, but now I typically head towards shell, as my tanks tend to last a little longer. I switch back and forth. I *was* tuned for 94 at one point.

This is actually quite insightful for me.....  I wonder if I could get a tune when my car arrives, and get some extra milage from it?

I hear Airboy tuned his car so much that it actually produces gas when he drives. :o

I wish we had Chevron 94, my car loves that stuff :(. I do not believe it contains Ethanol. Around Calgary, I fill up with Husky 94, prefer the extra octane for safety. I've been looking for Toluene, bu the best price I found was $13 for 4 liters, a bit too much.

Problem with E10 is that it stoich point is 14.1 vs 14.7 for gasoline, so if you are tuned for 100% gasoline, I don't think you're maximizing E10 for fuel efficiency or power, hence the crappy gas mileage. :( I would also think that E10 should be run slightly richer to ensure you don't go leaner than 14.7. I don't know enough about tuning to know though, maybe Airboy or someone can chime in.

Bumping this up..

Didn't want to get blame for use the search button haha

If Husky's E10 94 has a lower stoich point than straight gas. Would that mean me running the casual OTS tune by cobb be a bad thing. Since if i'm going WOT i'd be running slightly lean?

Which map are you running?

Also, IIRC, Cobbs maps aren't that aggressive, so you'd probably be ok, but a custom tune on the gas you're planning on using is still your best bet.

Yes custom tune is definitely best. The 93 octane map I believe(it's been almost a year lol). I'm not sure how conservative it is when I put out stage 2 numbers on a Airboy virtual dyno lol.(no dyno + no tuners here in Manitoba)

Would v power be the better bet?

I ran shell 91 v-power for 5 tanks and the AP stage 2 91 ots
and then I put in Husky 94 and it felt like I was getting more power and better gas mileage.  :o

anyways going to start using husky 94 now since its cheaper then shell 91 here
and I'll get tuned with that and worry about the gas stations before i go for a trip.   :P

FWIW Dom from MPS came to Regina to do road tuning for a weekend. He said that Husky 94 (even 92) is better than Shell 91. He could advance the timing on Husky 94/92 more than he could with Shell 91. He said Shell 91 was worse than California gas. That being said it might be different in Alberta because that gas comes from a different refinery.

I honestly think it's different from station to station. I always run v power and try to fill up at the same station. I have filled up at random shells and sometimes get det but never get anything with v power at 67th in Red Deer.

I've been using Husky/Mohawk/PetroCan 94 on the advice of my mechanic. My v3 STi has one of the most agressive 98 RON tunes in any production Subaru with the very first high output open deck turbo blocks. The high 18 psi boost is also one of the higest ever for stock GC8s, and it's just not worth the 3 cents savings per L versus 91/92.
Now with 2 turbo chariots of fury

You mean you get more power from more octane?! WHAT A DISCOVERY! STOP THE PRESSES.

You get best power from Husky 94, better mileage from Shell 91.

I thought it was odd I was getting better gas mileage with the power on Husky 94.  Most people are getting the mileage from shell 91 but I was going farther with Husky.  It's possible I was lighter on the throttle but I doubt it, I'm always boostin in 3rd.   :cops:

In my old cars I always used superstore for the 7.5 cents.  I'm tempted to try the superstore 91.  Probably a bad idea just to save $4-$5.
