Unoriginalusername's SPW STi 2010: Back from the dead.
« on: May 07, 2010, 01:01:34 am »
Alright guys, its been just over a month with my new baby, and almost 4000km are on the clock, so its time to start my own member journal. I think i started this in the wrong spot, if the mods want to move it thats fine with me hahah.

Like i mentioned in my first introduction, im a new grad, with a BScN (nurse). Im now working here in fort mcmurray on our medicine unit.

My dream car forever has been an STi, there is just something about them. There presence when you see one, I just fell in love with one, but when I did, there was no way i could afford one (being in school and all). So after school was over, i headed to edmonton, to go to the dealer, and pick up my new baby.

The first 1600km was killer, keeping it nice and slow, letting her break in nicely, but i know it was what was best for her. And once i hit the 1600km mark it  was just.... impossible to discribe. Coming from a 1999 cavalier, the car was just an animal. So much grip, and power. I love driving her.

The mods are going to be coming soon, and lists will be provided here in my journal. I will try to update everytime a mod gets installed. And of course update with pictures, lots of pictures haha.

One day a fully built engine will go into this car, I plan to have something thats quite quick, but maintain my DD status. I would really like to order a cosworth setup, but the gf needs to agree to that. And that might be a difficult sell haha. I also want to have something that one day i can enjoy with my kids. I plan to take good care of this car. Oil changes earlier rather then later, wash often (the correct way). 94 octane husky fuel (as long as its avaliable). I want to be able to share with my future kids this very car, have something i can work on with them, as work on with my gf (possibly more very soon, BUT DONT TELL HER hahah). We already installed the N1 together, just me and her, and she was a big help (and i think after the swearing and cutting of my finger she enjoyed it haha).

Here are some i took here in fort mcmurray just tonight, with the gfs help.
(Just as a side note these pictures are all straight from camera, and have not gone through any photoshopin, yet)

Just a heads up you may only need to switch out your head unit to get the sound quality you are looking for...it's a night and day difference.

I love the white GR's..
If the sea was vodka, and I was a duck.
I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.
But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.

Thanks for the tip on changing out the head unit. I will probably do that first then and then see if I need new speakers. Are there any nice headbunits out that that won't make me lose my steering wheel controls?

There are no HU's that come with direct steering wheel controls.
You'll need to get one of these:
http://www.pac-audio.com/swixprogramming/swixprogramming.asp

Also, PD is right. I switched out the HU to an AVIC-F700BT, and the sound quality was MUCH better. Speaker upgrades are now a very bottom level priority for me.

Yeah there are quite a few subies around the mac. We should arrange a meet and greet with wings and beers or something. I live downtown and have a decent sized little space in front of my house and a ok BBQ. So my place is always open.

So i got my oil cap and battery tie down in the mail, decent little touch in the engine. I hate those yellow oil fill caps, and i thought i might as well order a battery tie down. Looks good in my opinion.

But now its time to do some mods to the suspension, as well im really starting to get to used to the amount of power I have, but in the interest of keeping my warrenty incase something bad happens, I will hold off.

I keep hearing about subaru sti's and this "ringland problem" And it bugs me, but a part of me thinks its not as bad as people make it out to be. But who knows, i will never know, so i will keep it safe for now.

My gf has decided that I needed a nice grad gift, so some PF01's might be coming in the mail for me, she wont let me know when, hahah but she has kept asking me about them, so i have this feeling i might have something coming in the mail soon.

It's funny you mention rce springs. I was holding out for there yellows to come out cause I wanted a little bit of a drop, but I think the yellows may cause issues espically since the car is a DD. As well their sway bars were released recently, and I really like then they look like a quality product, so I would like to get a set with some kartboy endlinks.

Update to the car: just installed invidia N1 regular exhast. OMG this is how the car was sapposed to sound from the factory hahah. Thanks a lot to sam as well the exhaust looks and sounds great and met up with the stock downpipe without a hitch. It's not raspy at all, it has a very deep tone to it, and in my opinion it really brings out the boxer sound. It also looks really good in my opinion and is a quality product. The welds are amazing, great quality. I would like more power outta the car but I also want to be able to handle the power I already have better. Was thinking about a driver mod haha. Also the r205 badges will be going on very soon, as well as pics of the will be put up, of both the badges and the new exhaust. As well I will be ordering some kart joy extended exhaust hangers as the exhaust does sit close to the rear plastic bumper.

Dude I'd love to hear your car rumble.
I've bought the Invidia Catless DP & as well as Lachute exhaust.
Both will be fitted when i return from vacation In July but it would be good to meet & compare the exhaust tones...
I'm real curious to see the difference.
