Playing 10 matches a week is fine if you're on a great team and can consistently win all of them.  Otherwise you need to practice and make it to the point where you'll be able to push for glad at the end of the season (its by far the easiest way to get glad... a TON of teams queue up last minute in an attempt to get gladiator, most of them not used to pvp at all).  I'm lucky enough to be in a fantastic guild that i've played with since the Friends and Family Alpha, and have a bunch of players I trust.

But yes, the honor grind is a must (its MUCH easier now than it was before).  2100 rating was pretty high back in s1-s4 was it not?  I believe I got gladiator in s3 with 2300 or so.

Its better than it was in season 4 where... You either played with a druid or you lost....

People can still die before you can react, but there are many many more viable comps than in the past for sure.  They gave MS (in some form) to pretty much everyone now, even casters get a 20% reduction from some spells.

Looking forward to rated battlegrounds in Cataclysm though... My battlegroup had some absolutely epic WSG matches back in the day.  We even created a website to organize them and play against other set teams, was great.

The most epic PVP I was ever involved in was some of either the old Taren Mill / Southshore clobberfests back in the day, or the multiple-week-spanning AV matches back when AV first came out and had no time limit.

Battlegrounds these days is usually just a match of "who is less retarded", and doesn't actually involve any skill or strategy since 99% of people either don't care or don't know the strats to begin with. A prime example of this is pretty much every AB match I've done lately. Everyone zergs to BS, leaving no one at Farm and maybe 2-3 people to cap LM and no one at all at Mines.

Alliance will cap Stables, zerg LM, cap Mines, and then rush Farm afterwards. This results in a 4-1 loss pretty much every single time.
For every action, there is an equal and opposite criticism.

QFT.

Honestly the best open ground PvP I have been invoved in is WaR. Open PvP is what that game really got right. upwards of a thousand people on an open battlefield going at it was something to see, if your computer could handle it.

I got pressured into trying WoW last year. Gave it a shot with the 10 day trial version. Stopped after that and will never go back as I hated it. Star Trek Online though is a different story...

Just in case anyone's interested, a few of us have started playing again for the latest expansion. We're Horde on Mal'Ganis.

Perfect, now you just have to add an SC2 key to your Battle.net account and you'll be on your way to playing a real game ;).  But seriously though, be careful with that game.  I have a couple friends that lost their social lives for a few years while playing that game.
I felt quoting a 4 year old quote was acceptable in this case.

Do Horde still hilariously out number Alliance on Mal? That's how it was back when I last played in 2009/2010. I think it was something like 6:1.

I got suckered in by my friends so I'm also in on the new WoW. Playing on Tichondrius.

Little tip: Do the legion invasions rounds 1 and 2 in azshara, run back into Orgrimmar and repeat. I got my paladin from 25 2 days ago to 91 last night. Very very fast levelling so if you have time I'd recommend doing that.

I still don't understand EVE, and I have a few months pumped into that.

Star Citizen I kickstarted way back in the day, and still have no idea wtf is going on.

This is a bit long, but pretty exciting.

The lesson I learned from EVE was that crime doesnt pay.

Pre-ordered, but I'll be in Vancouver from mid-august onwards, so I won't be able to play for a bit.
