In stock form, the car isn't forgiving, but you know that already.  Even with a huge front swaybar (e.g. Ankeny), it can still bite if you don't treat it right.  However, it's still very driveable if you don't get sudden or jerky with your inputs.  And some hints -- never lift the throttle in mid corner, and never try to make it through a slalom faster than the car wants to go: http://members.shaw.ca/murray.autocross/Murray%20close%20call.jpg

1) Thanks for the advice, I'm going to be soaking up as much of it as possible in the next while

2) "Yikes"...  That's in the oval, eh?

Yep -- the car stopped a fraction of an inch away from the wall.  Ever since that experience, I happily run over a cone or shut down the run instead of trying to make it through an element that can't be made.  Concrete walls hurt, cone marks wash off...  Which is why you don't see me looping my car very much any more -- I know when to "give it up".  I am sure you will loop your car a few times, but you also have the experience to know when it's just not safe to push that last bit.

Looking forward to racing against you!  Feel free to come for a ride or two...

It doesn't sound like this car and I would get along.

Some people love it and some people hate it.  The S2000 isn't forgiving -- it punishes you for any bad driving habits.  But once you "get it", the driving experience is rewarding beyond belief -- much more direct and visceral than any other car I have driven.

I should've shot pics of when I was taking 4 tires to get mounted to my S.  255 in the trunk, two 215's side by side on the passenger seat and the other 255 around the passenger roll hoop.  Made for an interesting signt driving down 51st Ave.
They're going to park their car over there. You're going to park your car over here. Get it?

NP GrantC.

Feels really grippy, want to ride at autox.

(btw, DQ Drive Through was open, but had a 6 car line up. Westmount was closed, but 51 ave was open!)

Man...  That's one empty garage!

Are you just commenting on the spaciousness?  Or are you the second person in as many days to try to make an unfunny "you crashed your WRX and now your garage looks empty" joke?

A man is not what he owns, but what he becomes. I see many full garages, driveways that belong to empty people.  >:(

It's just my jealousy speaking.  I wish I had such a spacious garage!  Puts my 22'x22' garage to shame.

This.

I don't see why people would make fun of you for crashing your car.  That's just stupid/rude IMHO.

22x22' isn't that small, is it?  :o

But, "yes", the garage is the main thing the wife & I were looking at when we were shopping for houses.  Cars are our hobby, not gardening. ;)

The flooring on it really does make it quick to clean up, and a lot nicer to lie down on.  (and when you slide things across it, they don't instantly get all beaten up looking)

(After all the time I spent doing the "car guy in a condo thing" and borrowing other peoples garages I figure I still owe a lot of "garage karma"...  If you ever want a Northside install day, my door's open.  8))

Hey!  i was the first and it wasn't meant to be a joke! It was supposed to be a comment on how nice and big your garage is.  I like the flooring too.  ;D

I'd live in a tent if it meant i could have a garage like that one day.

My sweater was dirtier than his garage floor.

Can't wait to see the car in action tomorrow!!

I would also be jealous of the garage, but so far Grant's been willing to share its use with pretty much anyone who's needed it - so there's been little need to forge his last will and murder him. ;)

I would kill for a garage like that.. I went from having a garage/tools/air tools to being the "Car guy in a condo".. god damn does it ever suck. Thankfully my girlfriends parents are gracious enough to let me borrow theirs from time to time, until my friend gets back from China, so I can store all my itshay in *his* garage.
If the sea was vodka, and I was a duck.
I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.
But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.
