Places within an hour or two of calgary
« on: August 09, 2010, 10:35:54 pm »
So for those of you that don't know me, I got in to a bad motorcycle accident last year and as part of my recovery the doc recommended biking  ;D

So I got a rocky mountain element 70 (2005) with a Thompson head set and full xtr gear ;D 8)

What i need to know is if there are any places for an intermediate rider with only one leg that is any good ( meaning long climbs are not going to happen)

Or even more preferably some where with a lift that is not COP! and within an hr or two of cgy?

I did look at panorama, but it is a wee bit too far for me, or is it worth the drive???

Lists with maps pictures and video would be great as well as your take on how difficult to get to or what prep is needed.

Thanks
"I hate my life"... But wait, it gets better.

Ummm, wasn't the whole point of the WRX supposed to be an AWD car that would perform well on narrow, twisty dirt/gravel/snowy/paved roads? Seems like the problem isn't with the WRX, it's with idiots using them to race Mustangs between traffic lights.

Panorama is worth the drive (2.15-2.5 hrs).  While there the Along the Johnson trail sounds like it'd be up your alley.  http://www.columbiavalleycyclingsociety.org/trailhead.htm

For rides that don't take that much climbing... that's a little trickier.  Jumpingpound Loop is pretty flat, but rather small.  The flat guys are CMBA.  http://www.cmbalink.com/

Just about all the rides I do involve climbing up as I live for the downhills :)

You aren't mistaken; this post was solid gold.
