Havoc, The Cold Lake WRX Undertaking
« on: August 07, 2010, 01:46:28 pm »
Intro
First I will start off by stating how I came into possesion of my 2007 WRX Limited. I like many on here loved the WRX from a fairly young age. I thought to myself "Man that would be a cool car to own one day." As time passed the WRX/Sti would reignite my interest with the new stylings and then fade into the back of my mind again.

Fast forward. I am in college driving an economical 2000 Grand Am 4 cylinder. School sucks (being broke and all) and I keep telling myself I am buying myself a brand new, likely German car as soon as school is done and I can get the financing. I was looking at the 335i and then S5, yadda yadda. One day driving home from school Bambi and his best friend decide to form a tandem line across the road. I miss Bambi but I take his friend out, dead. Unfortunately Bambi's BFF also killed the Grand AM. It was driveable but the insurance company wrote it off. They gave me $5000.00 (-500.00 deductable). I was very happy, I had bought the car two years prior for $5k and put 100 000km on it.

So now I have five thousand for a down payment but still a couple months left of school. The Canadian loonie was on par or even slightly better than the yanky buck at this time so I began scouring the US. I found lots of beamers but would have to buy a couple years old and nothing with both performance and all wheel drive was in my budget. Then the WRX drifted back in to my mind as subtly as the last time it had faded away. I did a quick search and found a lot more choices. I was then in the pickle many of us have been in; buy a almost brand new WRX or a couple year old sti. When I found my car the choice was clear. My car was a dealer demo with 10K miles on it and no mods. It was a limited so it had the heated leather seats and sun roof which played to my German car side. I also really liked the color (to this day I have never seen my cars twin on the road). Finally the price was good, $23 000.00 all in. I pulled the trigger!

Oh and the name Havoc, I am very uncreative (ie.screen name) and live in Cold Lake. I basically just opposed rs_two_five.

Goals
When I purchased the car I had no real idea of what I wanted the car to be. As I owned it longer and started hanging out on this forum I started to realize what I wanted out of my little WRX. I work shift work and don't have the spare time to actively pursue any real competitive motorsports goals so my car was not going to be built to any rules (I will leave that up to the otto-x-robot). My car is a DD and I drive a lot so it had to be kept streetable. So what do I want? I want my car to walk the line of performance and what I can deal with driving everyday all year round. I may take it to some lapping days in the future, not to be competitive but rather to drive my car in such a manner that I never could would on the streets. Finally I want it to be fun!

They are coming. Pat is on holidays for a few days and then is supposed to email them when he gets back. Thats what the place holders are for. 320whp though, Pat said that is the most he would put on my stock block, 21psi.

Awesome!
If the sea was vodka, and I was a duck.
I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.
But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.
If you're having forum problems, I feel bad for you son, I got 99 problems but your post ain't one.

Now I need a built block so I can get more out of that turbo. I'm not sure how much that TMIC has left in it but Pat said it wasn't "crying" yet.

Get that suspension dialed in first before you go any further with power. Sway bars with good spring set makes a huge difference.

Good looking car, love those grills, and you never see a Wrex in that color.  Love it.
I used to drive Subaru's.

Thanks. Half the reason for this total financially unreasonable build is in the end I will have a car like no one else's.

Any pics of the taillight tint? Did you apply it yourself or have a shop do it?

Haven't had time to clean the car to take recent pics. Hopefully very soon though. Oh and the tail light tint was done by Garage works. They are not blacked out, just darkened.
