Yes, if you've built your car w/o ever looking at this or another "auto-x prep" sticky or the rules then you'll be in a higher class than you feel you should be...

Oh well, that just means you can mod more without worrying about bumping up another class. >:D

This is me lol, I built the car before even thinking about classes. But I love the car and I just need to learn to drive lol

For Street Prepared:

Quote
P. Any metal clutch assembly, metal flywheel, or metal torque converter that uses the standard attachment to the crankshaft may be used. Non-metallic friction surfaces (e.g., clutch disks) are permitted. Dowel pins may be added. Any hydraulic clutch line may be used. Replacement or substitution of the clutch slave cylinder is permitted, but this does not allow non-original methods of clutch actuation (e.g. pull type versus push type).
(emphasis is mine)

So those OS Giken clutches are baller, but all their "movement alteration kit" bumps you straight to SM.  Which, depending on how much you feel it makes a difference, might be fair.

Updated for 2012 rules.

Changes in Italics.

Highpoints:
06-08 WRX are in now in STX with the 02-05.
Stock can change either front or rear swaybar (but not both).
Master cylinder braces are now SP legal.
04-11 STI are in the new ASP containing old BSP cars and the slowest ASP cars. (And the fastest ASP cars *cough* GT-R *cough* went up to the new SSP)
2.5RS/2.5i are in the newly renamed "STC"

Updated for 2013 rules.

Highlights:
-oil pickup/pan is allowed in ST_ now
-BRZ/FRS was classed in STX
-I added classing for JDM-yo cars.

(2014 has some very interesting proposed rules, with Stock being replaced by Street which will require street tires rather than R's, the ability to change wheel sizes, and a limited assortment of suspension mods to allow additional camber for mac strut cars.  Also, the class naming will then be Street -> Street Touring -> Street Prepared -> Street Modified...)

So doing the ALK bumps you right up to SM, sounds like fun. Hopefully I can start making it out to some autox events again.

So do the subframe lock bolts and vf39 you have listed in your build thread. ;)
(I don't know how much of this you have installed yet)

(and possibly the cusco brace, but I don't care enough to look at the rules)

Ya neither the lock bolts or turbo swap have been done. But the cusco brace is in there, and Im hoping to get a ALK for when I go to install the sti front control arms.

Updated for 2014 ruleset.

Highlights:
  • "Street" replaces "Stock", but with only some of the proposed additions.
  • "Street-R" continues old "Stock" ruleset (including R's) for 2014 only. (and allowance to let people use up any R's they have or won in contingency)
  • Added BRZ classing

I didn't read anything about a FMIC. Would that put you right up to Prepared?

Intercoolers are allowed in SP (street prepared)

Per 15-10-C.3. As utilized only on engines originally equipped with forced induction,
induction charge heat exchangers (also known as “intercoolers”
or “charge air coolers” [CACs]) are unrestricted in size and
configuration.

Has the 2015 WRX been classed anywhere? DS? Not that it really matters to me yet, I'm not in it for championship points or anything. But would be nice to know.

I'd expect it's still in DS, but no I didn't see it officially classed yet.

Apologies for the prehistoric bump but I'd like to confirm my class I belive I fall in to sm because of the interior parts removed, ac removed, turbo swap, brakes, different gear ratio , and tires that I'll be using

Interior parts removed?  Rear seat and rear seat belts are all that is permissible in SM.  Otherwise your in prepared... or mod.

SM is _street_ modified.

As long as the only interior removed is the rear seat & trunk carpet...  beyond that, it's FP or XP.

Well according to the 2015 rules Subaru Impreza WRX (all incl. STI) (2002-14), Legacy (Turbo) (2004-14), & Forester XT (2004-14) are all ASP now.

Subaru Impreza (all) (1993-2001), Impreza (2.5L) (NOC), Legacy & Outback (6-cyl, all) (1998-2004), Legacy & Outback (6-cyl, all) (2005-13) are DSP

Subaru Forester 2.5XT, Legacy 2.5GT (2005-12) are DSP

Subaru Turbo 4WD (all, NOC), Forester (non-turbo), Impreza 2.0i (2012-13), Legacy & Legacy GT are ESP

Edit: Yes, the XT is listed twice, this is right from the rule book: http://scca.cdn.racersites.com/prod/assets/2015-2-23_SCCA_Solo_Rules_book_online1.pdf

The 2015 WRX got bumped from STU down to STX.  Interesting.  Does that mean it was performing slower than the 2009-2014 WRX?

Also, the 2015 WRX and STI aren't listed in the xSP classes.  Anyone know what's up with that?  Looks like they would fall into the SSP class with the current rules.. and then they would be brutally slaughtered.

Engine size would be my guess.
2L instead of 2.5L.

Just looking at the other cars in the class, it doesn't appear that engine size is a factor, though.  The 2.5L 06-08 WRX is in STX, so I'm not sure why the 09-14 are in STU.

I haven't looked at the new rules, so this is just conjecture.
The only other difference then is the 08 was the last year for the TD04, 09 went to VF52.

The Calgary club classed my JDM 95 STI as ASP... Has anyone successfully had their JDM classed as CSP as listed above in the OP?

I was told since my car is JDM, it's SM (in this case the Mini). If I could get classed as something more competitive, that'd be awesome.

Pretty much all of the USDM impreza based turbo cars are in ASP. That is where I would stick a JDM WRX or STi.
