Wow that sucks.
However, I would be more willing to take Vancouver transit over Calgary transit.
If the sea was vodka, and I was a duck.
I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.
But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.

No it was a proper sticker, color matched to the pump and everything.

This is in Camrose, AB.

The 3 is raw.  Lighter than more agile.  The 6 probably feels like a 747.  And by that contrast, my STI probably feels like the Hindenburg.  So GR's are like the International Space Station.

That's exactly what I've seen at the pumps, and it mentions it in a leaflet near the cash registers.

FWIW I love the new style pumps, trigger lock is back, you can actually hear the key pad beep, and the pay at pump is much faster.

For anyone still concerned, i got a response from Husky.

Quote
Good afternoon Zeev,

Thank you for contacting Husky.  We apologize for the delay in responding; our email volume is higher than normal and our response time is less than desirable.  Please be assured the we respond to all call and email inquiries on an individual basis.

Husky has proudly provided ethanol-blended gasoline to our customers for many years and most recently was able to provide ethanol-blended 90 Octane fuel at the price of our competitors’ regular gasoline, which had no ethanol.

Recently, Husky's ethanol-blended 90 Octane fuel dropped to 87 Octane, still blended with ethanol, in some parts of Alberta. We will continue provide our premium 94 Octane ethanol-blended fuel at certain locations across the province.

In recent years, many provincial governments (including BC, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario) as well as the federal government have mandated an annual average of 5% ethanol in gasoline for all producers.

The changes you have been seeing are the result of the government mandate and the response from refineries to meet this mandate.

We apologize for any inconvenience or confusion this may have caused.

Kind Regards,

Hmm... It seems that it is easier to attack the fuel distribution than it is to attack the manufacturers of (sports?) cars. I'm still wondering what the ulterior motive behind this is.

Won't this drop fuel economy across the province? Since all gas will now have 5% ethanol, doesn't that mean that even normal cars that run 87 will still see a small drop in mileage?

So in essence they're decreasing efficiency so you need to buy more. Gotcha.

I'm glad I dumped my HSE shares at 30.00 (which it two days ago). Conveniently after making a whopping $12 in dividends. Now Suncor and Cenovus just need to 45 and 38 respectively.

Since all gas will now have 5% ethanol
Not entirely.
Just the regular junk.
87 Octane - up to 10% Ethanol.
89 Octane - up to 5% Ethanol.
91 Octane - no Ethanol.

Starting Dec. 15, 2010 an "average renewable fuel content of five per cent in gasoline is required in Canada":
http://www.ec.gc.ca/default.asp?lang=En&n=714D9AAE-1&news=2D84D5D6-F152-4F5F-A4B9-BE973BE6821B

So, a drop in mileage making it worth it to switch to 91 on NA cars?
No.
But I do smell some handshakes between oil companies and gubernmint.
