The Goat's WRB 2011 Sedan
« on: May 10, 2011, 06:27:13 pm »
So a little history I had a 2002 VW Jetta VR6 with no mods, I loved the car except it was auto :(. The car was becoming unreliable and well I am a recent college grad finally making decent money decide I need a new car. So I walked in to Subaru City in Edmonton and test drove a 2007 STI. Love!!!. I had already test drove a 2010 GTI, 2010 EVO, 2010 370Z. The STI was by far my favorite, but 2007 not to old but why would someone sell this car it is in "great condition" didn't feel like inheriting someone else's problems. So talked to the manager and said I want 2011 STI Sport Tech WRB he laughed and said 3-6 months, I walked out. I got a phone call 2 weeks later they had one coming if I wanted would be there in 3-4 weeks. So I got my car, was not planning on doing anything to it, it was a great car by my standards. Then you bastards came along, I found this website along side IWSTI and started looking around and well. I have seen lots of things that I liked and made many plans "in my head" I am sure only 5% of them are good and even less with happen. Here is my car almost 2 months after getting it I cleaned it well I live in a dirty area and it didn't stay clean for long enough for me to get photo's of it clean but anyways.

You know, the STi sedan's weren't my fav, but they did grow on me, and the WRB looks awesome.

I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.
But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.

I got a question for you peoples so I bought TSW Nurburgrings RF as an uneducated fool and got a terrible fitment. They don't rub or anything but they look ok, will probably use them for my winter tires. So I am going to get new wheels now that I am more educated and have you people to advise. What I am thinking of putting on now are Volks TE37's 19X9.5 +45 I need to see what all the colors I can get them in I would like Matt Black but that may not be available second choice would be Bronze or white I can decide I think it would all look nice. anyways on RCE Black coil overs and a fender Roll would those fit, with 265/35/19 Rubber? I would be ok with a 255/35/19 if I had too.

Thanks in advance.

What don't you like about the wheels? I really want a set of these in the matte gunmetal colour. If it's the offset, have you thought about running with a spacer? Adding a 15mm spacer will essentially make them a +48 offset. You could probably even use a 20mm spacer.
If you want a WSC License plate frame, PM me. Now available in black with white lettering!

I have thought about running a spacer just not sure about it. I have read a bit about them I know I can run a 10mm on factory studs can you run a 15mm or would I need longer studs.
The other things is how does it effect wheel vibration, safety and all that stuff. I will be getting new rim eventually anyways I am not a big fan of the stock silver enkei's could get them powder coated different color but probably just going to buy some volks eventually.

coilovers always require less offset, because the spring coils go lower. You might want to check out some people with same setup, you are looking at size wise. Keep in mind the average load in yourback seat. Most people say they don't get rubing, and they never have anybody sit in the back seat. I like your 9.5" +45 rim choice, I would not go wider than 255 myself. Your loads and amount of fender rolling will determine how far out of factory spec you can go.

So about 2 months ago I attempted to black out my interior using plasti-dip. I used the spray can stuff and I quite liked the texture but tint of black was not what I was looking for. My first go around was not successful as I would have liked some of my line were far from perfect and over the 2 months it was scratching pretty bad even tho I did 3 coats. So time for a redo but this time no plasti-dip. I am using Dupi-color automotive paint I did 2 coats of matt black sandable primer and 3 coats of matt black acrylic lacquer. I really really like the look over the plasti-dip my question is should have I used a clear coat and if so which should I use that will not give me a gloss finish and keep it looking matt.

so here are the pieces I did last night.

I spent this morning preping 2 more pieces. As I am sure many of you prep is everything when painting and having to remove plasti-dip makes it even more fun. :(

DSC_0323 by Edarlidd, on Flickr

So after the 2 hour it took me to prep these piece look outside to see this

DSC_0327 by Edarlidd, on Flickr

Since I live in an apartment outside is my only choice for painting is outside. Anyways I need some more advice how can I paint this with out going over the letters if even possible I was thinking of wax and an utilitie knife. I am open to suggestions.

Yesterday at work

IMG_20111005_055051 by Edarlidd, on Flickr

went stage 1 September 22nd and loving ever since. Installed Grillcraft Lower Grill and Kartboy shifter bushings (thinking of removing the sound is getting to me), also installed blue lugs but maybe im dumb but they didn't even last installation they are already marked up from the wrench. Have the upper grill craftgrill sitting in my car right now about to go install and then clean my car. will post more pic after wash and hockey if I don't drink to much.

Sidenote I will be in edmonton in a few weeks and would like to hear a Q300 and cobb exhaust with DP in person if someone has one of the 2 and can make the time to meet up the weekend of the 22nd or if there is an event I sure i can come to check it out.

grilles look real good!  i've never been a fan of them on the GD body style, they always look a little hokey and out of place to me, but they really suit your body style nicely.   looks like it could be a stock option or something

very sexy

 From Drop Box

Thanks Ryan at Vex for accommodating me on such short notice. The guys at Vex are really phenomenal.

Also A.J. for meeting me late in the evening and on short notice. I appreciate it.

It is a noticeable difference in acceleration. The sound puts a smile on my face every time. I stand outside and use my remote start just to hear it start.

I like the sedan as well just a few more things on my list to fix now.  the trunk trim painted and the window molding blacked out should be in the next few weeks. Then I should be happy till summer.

Been money short since christmas and busy but back to it again :D.

Before:

After:

One installed

Will post more and better photos once I clean the car and have the bumper back on. but that will take me some time. I did an amber delete but I need to get a new 2 color LED to replace the bulb, so it can be white when DRL and orange when flashing.

Sidenote has anyone been able to remove the weather striping with the chrome from the bottom of the windows I would like to paint it BLACK. Next week I am going to try and take my badges apart and black out the chome on them as well.

The blacked out projector trim looks great, I have seen those 2 color LEDs your talking about and it should look awesome.

:(

A cardboard box containing something flew out of a truck in front of me on Sunday and put 2 nice cracks in my bumper a well as a nice scratch.
Argh, at least the body shop here is able to get me in on Monday as long as the parts show up by then. They are also going to paint the trunk garnish the body color as well. Hopefully a nice spring detailing as well. But till then my car is dirty enough you can't see the damage :P .

Also considering getting my the black frame around my front grill painted body color I have seen it done with after market frames. Im going to keep searching for someone else who has done it but if anyone has seen it let me know.

Done, I know you have all seen it before but here it is anyways. I think I need a DP heat shield, rad cover, and alternator cover from RA Motorsports may also get a skid plate.

Update:
Well that was a failure on my part. I'm going to take it off the car on Monday before the car goes to body shop and try again in my free time at work.

I talked about this in another tread but here is the damage I received from a cardboard box flying out of the box of a truck on the highway. something was in the box not sure what but enough to crack and scrape the bumper. all good tho my sand blasted bumper gets replaced at his expense  >:D, Still suck to be with out the car for a few days while it gets painted. oh and its dirty, as always here in the mac I can't get from the car wash 3 blocks from my house with out its getting dirty.

Updated

Ordered Advan TCIII 18x9.5 +45 Dark Gun Metal today with Hankook v12 265/35/R18 today but the wheels are out of stock and will be 2-3 months for them to arrive in California then have to be shipped to me.

Also started my Amp install yesterday but still waiting on enclosure from Audio Integrations should be shipped on Monday. I am mounting the Amp under the drivers seat does I was think about using industrial strength Velcro does anyone know another option? I see 2 bolts that I may be able to make a bracket to secure to but not sure what they are for, but I have to wait to get back to work to make the bracket.

I also my be crazy but the chrome door handles on the inside of the car are bugging me so I may try and remove one today so that I can paint it matte black. and see how hard they are to remove. The other piece is the hand brake button that maybe more difficult.

If we ever get a nice day in Edmonton I am going to detail my car and post some new pictures
