Lightbulb Guide - which type for which car
« on: January 20, 2008, 03:26:43 pm »
Ripped off from NASIOC in the most blatant way possible.

NOTE: When using 168 bulbs, you can replace them with the brighter 194 bulbs. This is practically the same bulb, just draws a bit more current which in turn makes it a brighter bulb.

This concludes the Bulb Replacement Guide. I hope this will help you figure out what bulb you need. I would strongly recommend looking at your owners manual and checking the bulb # before purchasing a bulb. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

Thanks for reading, and have a great day.

The last batch I got was from an eBay seller - LEDKing or something...  I'll see if I can find it...

This is great.

I want to do some cosmetic mods come spring (clear headlights) and I might look at changing some bulbs.

I got mine from HID King on ebay, but there are craploads of places that sell them.  Watch out for shipping charges - a group buy would be wise.

Just so everyone knows PIAA bulbs are on sale at JB's. I picked up Xtreme Super Whites H1's for low beam and H3's for fog lights and it was like $156 including tax.

Is there a local source (Calgary or Edmonton) for specialty bulbs?  I'm looking for all-weather (yellow) H3s for my fogs and just a standard 168 / 195 for my parking light.  I've used RallyLights.com before, but you need a bigger order to make it worthwhile.

What is your current setup on your civic, is it HID lights?  How is your WRX setup, did you add in HIDs with the ballasts and such?

I think I may have a little issue with mine also. I have an 04 STI and it's a Canadin model (heated Seats). My headlights are not HID and I just blew a drivers side low beam and Subaru is having a little trouble finding what the proper low beam bulb is. The OP is correct with the high beams being 9005's but I'm stumped to what the low's are. Does anybody know something here that I don't?

Aren't those dual beams - you only need the one bulb?

great posts, hope I can ask a quick question (lightbulb related) - I want to replace withe bulbs on my fog lights on my 09 WRX with actual yellow bulbs (not just a yellow tint on white bulbs like I have now). Where would be a good place to get some good lights to do that?  ???

Im not sure where to get the bulbs, but.... if you already have the yellow over lays, what is the point in getting the bulbs.

I am not 100% sure, but the over lay shouldnt cut down the output, and IMO it most likely wouldnt be that noticable for $60-$80. just my .02

See you tomorrow morning Ryan!

The yellow tint looks ok in the day but the white light of the bulb still comes through at night. I want is to be full on yellow.

If the fog light bulbs are H11's then they're a little more difficult to come by around here.
I got a pair of PIAA 2300k bulbs (bloody expensive) from Mopac on 16th Ave, plus a set of MTEC's via richie_rich on here from Speedtech on 32nd Ave.

The 9005 bulb has a high/low in the same bulb. I am betting your element is just burned out on the low side. You replace the same bulb for high and low.

2006/07 Glove box bulb; Subaru doesn't have a part # for this but it's a simple dash bulb.

#74 bulb, 55 cents at Napa
