Since I heard of that happening to you and some others, I removed the "Get Windows 10" update from my computer than disabled all further updates.

I had also done this, so the moral of the story is that you'll get Windows 10'd and you'll like it.

So where's this button to prevent Win10 auto-install, permanently?

Meh. I haven't minded Win 10 at all. I use it at home and at work.

I'm 50-50 on Win10 so far. My desktop machine at work is fine, but my Thinkpad at work is stuck in a reboot loop every time I walk away from it for more than five minutes or close the lid.

As on OS, I like Windows 10 for the most part, its much better than Win 8.

However I don't like how all the creepy spying/surveillance stuff I turn off finds a way to re-enable itself when I'm not looking.

I want Linux to take over the world.

Just disable windows update. I get an annoying "always on top" popup advertisement for win10 every few days, but ive had win7 on my old thinkpad since i got it.

I following this guide to remove the GetWin10 update
http://winsupersite.com/windows-10/how-stop-windows-10-upgrade-downloading-your-system

then turned off auto updates.

Bloody Microsoft, go DIAF...

I use excel heavily for work, today it literally interrupts what I'm doing, closes all office applications and updates, losing about 15 minutes work in the process.. WHAT. THE. HELL.

It's bad enough MS pushed windows 10 on me at home without my consent, now they aren't even allowing me to save before they just pull the plug to update.

Argh.

*This is the part where people that are more computer smart than I am chime in with what I'm doing wrong....

So the big excel file I was working on yesterday?  Today I save constantly, get it done, ready to present to the boss and..... file's corrupted and won't open.

Literally 10 hours of work gone.

http://globalnews.ca/news/2972019/edmonton-mulling-idaho-stop-allowing-cyclists-to-treat-stop-signs-as-yield/

Ummmmm..... what?

So let me get this straight.... cyclists are just blowing thru stop signs, so instead of ticketing them, they want to change the law to allow them to treat them as yields?

Can you imagine if the city did this for motorists? "Everyone does 100 on the whitemud anyways, might as well just change the limit." <--- will never happen.

Why does the City keep sending signals to cyclists that they are basically untouchable and yet continue to punish drivers for driving?

I'm not sure if you read the full article.

They have to approach intersections at walking speeds, and if it's clear, can go ahead.

That means if there's a vehicle there, it's a busy intersection, etc, they still need to stop.

Honestly, no one's around anyways, the uckfay does it matter? They'll do it regardless, and now police can spend less resources on it.

Nah I read that, and I agree with you.

Like it matters, every single cyclist I see does whatever the hell they want anyways.  I'm just sick and tired of hearing how EPS has to 'crack down' on 'reckless drivers' and suggesting we lower all 60km/hr zones to 40km/hr, while at the same time making concessions for cyclists don't even pay taxes to use the roads they want to take away from drivers, who pay a road tax thru fuel and registration fees.

You could just get a bike and reap the same benefits....
It's kinda like saying the guy who has a TFSA doesn't have to pay taxes on it even though you have to pay taxes on your accounts because they're different.

Bad analogy, but yeah.

I mean, not sure how it works in Edmonton, but down here, it's property taxes that pay for the roads. Fuel tax + registration go to the provincial gubbermint, which means it doesn't directly pay for roads. But really, they need to exist, regardless of who uses them, as they're needed for infrastructure.

Don't get me wrong. I hate cyclists more than most. Especially as a motorcycle rider. Why do they get to lane split and I can't? (It's not legal for them either) Why do they get to use HOV lanes, and I can't? Why can they go backwards on a one-way street using a sidewalk (which is illegal to anyone over the age of 15 in Calgary). But I just don't see the point getting worked up over a point, where they're legalizing something that they already can't control. Who's going to ticket a bike running a clear intersection? If it's clear, that means there's no vehicles (cops or otherwise) anyways. To me, there's no point in really even legislating this.

Also, Calgary is considering dropping from 50->40 or 30 in all residential zones. I don't see a point, since 90% of drivers are too scared to use the gas pedal anyways.

Is it not feasible to build a separated bike-lane in those places?

We have separated bike lanes along most of my commute and the only places I ever worry about interactions with cyclists are in the few places where it's missing.

Actually you do pay taxes on your TFSA, just not the growth.

THIS!!!  if they won't build separated bike likes, then I don't understand why in Edmonton you aren't allowed to ride a bicycle on the sidewalk like I did when I was a kid.

Because the worst of the screaming crybaby uckyfay come out as soon as you so much as think the word bike lane. Even as we speak, they swarm towards this forum, mouths foaming and eyes a glassy pale grey.

The Idaho stop should be law for all vehicles. Fuel and emissions savings are enough to justify. 4 ways that operate chiefly as 2 ways during certain hours would greatly benefit. No safety would be compromised.
