What are the differences between the ej20g and ej20k?

What are the differences between the ej20g and ej20k?

The ej20g is the engine in my JDM WRX, So I BELIEVE this forester will have similar internals, but slightly higher compression and lower boost.

The ej20k had quite a few different internal features and tuning I believe, and is semi-closed if i'm not mistaken. I've heard it has fewer failsafe's for detonation with low octane gas (hence people's disdain for them, running them with no tune)

As it is newer than my wrx, though, this ej20g will have the top-of-manifold style coilpacks, newer intake design (curves underneath manifold) and a non-slanty intercooler.

So basically, its the same engine layout as a 2.0 turbo, with around 250hp stock . But I believe the USDM 2.0 has the coilpacks on the plugs like the older subies doesn't it?

Clearly I'm no expert haha, just going by what I've heard, anyone feel free to correct me!

That is a sweet looking car. For the rear bumper, the CDM Foresters (98-99) had the exact same bumper with the grey cladding. Just need to get a bumper off an S model. Also the tires from your WRX will not be the correct size. There is a pretty big difference between the Forester and Impreza tire sizes. Should be able to find some winter tires for the Forester pretty cheap.

Will be a great car!

It never occurred to me that JDM car stereos would have the volume control knob on the opposite side. I still really like that interior.

Wow, I've never noticed that with this or my wrx... Haha. Stereo upgrade is usually one of my first mods so.

Thanks man, looks a lot more roomy/modern than the GC

Little update:

The Foz has passed customs in Vancouver and is available tomorrow at the docks. It will be shipped by livingston freight on rail to Edmonton asap, so should have her roadworthy for sure by the end of the month (after OOP inspection, possibly new tires, etc.).

No guarantees I'll bring it to wing meet, depends on a few things. I'll post in the wing thread if I end up bringing her :)

Sounds good buddy, what's your plans with wheels for it?

Edit: since your selling your wrx wheels what would be the replacement?  And get some coilovers for it! These look sooo good with a bit of low.

Keeping same wheels for now, maybe a repaint different color in the future. In the process of finding some all terrain tires for her so that I just need one set for it and one set for wrx

Look into some of the cooper tires! Their A/T and mud tires(discover series) are pretty much the same as toyo's.  Except there are a lot cheaper and wear better, actually found them a lot quieter also.

P.s sorry for the comments being all over the place haha

K, this is gonna be a huge post, be warned.

-I picked up the forester this morning from the railyards
-WOW do I love this thing... much more comfortable, many more features, plenty of power, smooth operation, awesome looks, great on gas, ridiculous amount of storage space, etc etc.
-Did an oil change as soon as I got her home, along with filling tires, checking tranny fluid, checking coolant, replacing washer fluid, giving her a good cleaning.
-The exterior, engine bay, and interior are all very clean, many parts are mint condition. With just 74xxx on the clock it is running like a new car as well.
-Also, the digital climate control is AWESOME, works flawlessly and I didn't need to adjust it once after making my initial settings. Nice having the exterior temp as well.
-Keyless entry works with the buttons on the key, which is awesome, no more putting the key in the lock for me (at least not on this vehicle  :-\ )
Only issues I have for the OOP inspection is DRL's and tires (Wheels are a little rough condition but I believe these tires will pass, then I will order some all terrains for it asap, assuming I'm not getting wheel repaired)

Pics:

Can anyone translate these?

Trying to keep this from becoming a mod project, and it's proving difficult when I pop that hood and see the very moddable engine  >:D. Car came almost 100% stock which I am happy about, and looks very well maintained (clean air filter, good oil level, tranny fluid clear and full, coolant topped full)

Plans for now are (in order of importance):
1.) Install DRL's to pass OOP
2.) Get OOP completed, hopefully not needing many changes
3.) Buy a set of A/T tires for it, likely the yokohama geolandar a/t-s 215/60/16
4.) Install a boost gauge of some sort, would like it to be as oem-looking and non-obtrusive as possible
5.) Full stereo install, new head unit, speakers all around (The fozzy comes with components :D ), and sub/amp from the GC
6.) Get paint fixed up on back bumper or get replacement rear bumper
7.) Tinting (currently all but the front windows are tinted slightly, but would like them a touch darker and some tint on driver/passenger windows
8.) PERHAPS an axleback for a bit more rumble

That's all I can think of posting about right now, let me know any ideas or suggestions you guys have :)

Some curb rash, which isn't too big of deal, however one of the wheels has a pretty deep gash, caused by corrosion I think? They are all balanced, and drives straight, so not really a huge deal if I didn't get them fixed. Doesn't look the best though

You forgot to add the rsb to the list. :P I have to say, the interior was not as hideous as I thought it was going to be. Following youast night was awesome, it pulls quick! And don't forget the 3m!

Haha we'll leave that RSB out of the equation, for now...

Yeah 3M is high on my priority list too. Main thing now is just to get it OOP'd

Wow, is that ever pretty...
If the sea was vodka, and I was a duck.
I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.
But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.
If you're having forum problems, I feel bad for you son, I got 99 problems but your post ain't one.

Thanks man! The interior shots are kinda ittshay cause I took them with the phone, but it feels mint inside, wheel/shifter look unused as well.
