I was disappointed to hear about this, however I do understand their reasoning. Guess I might be in the market for a new cat back though ::)

Easy...

I agree, this whole thing does seem too easy  ^-^

But really, it's a cash grab, no doubt about it. Instead of spending that 100k+ on catching real criminals, lets get the people with loud vehicles! They are obviously the ones stabbing people in broad daylight, selling drugs, ect.  :cops:

Stereotypically yea.... lol you know the whole tinted windows and electronic music means drug dealer...drug dealer means gang....gang means stabbists... so i guess in the long run this is the correct approach? nickle and dime them to death?

Heard on the radio that they won't be considering it until multiple municipalities ask for it.

Or they can use the money obtained from people who are breaking the law after all to pay for more police officers, better equipment, more investigations, etc. Unfortunately, going after drug dealers, murderers and rapists doesn't exactly pay the bills.

Yeah the same way they use gas tax to fix the roads.

The police are not suppose to be revenue collectors. I would rather be paying more tax dollars and have actual criminals caught and the police running deficits than then collecting money because some people are annoyed by noise. What's next certain color of cars are to bright let's ticket them.

Let's not forget that speeders and drivers of noisy cars are breaking the law; they are criminals. Granted they're not criminals in the same way as say a rapist but it's not like the police can just focus on a dozen crimes and ignore all the rest. They are paid to enforce all the laws, not just the ones they personally believe are more important or worthy of their time. Imagine what would happen if cops suddenly ignored speeding completely. Yes they use tactics that raise money but that really doesn't bother me. Hell, by contracting out to other companies or using automated methods, they're actually freeing up officers to do other things.

Laws should never be enforced by a third party. As for cops ignoring speeders and the results, look up what happen to the accident rates in Montana when they removed the speed limits from out of city roads. Also I believe their is a difference between speeding and reckless driving which automated machines cannot differentiate.

They're not being enforced in the same way, people are simply being held accountable financially for their actions. I really don't see the wrong in making people who speed pay for it if they get caught or making people with excessively loud cars pay for it, again, if they get caught. It doesn't matter if you're speeding or driving recklessly, either way, you're breaking the law. I honestly don't see the problem. Don't want a ticket? Don't have a loud car. It sucks getting a ticket but it's kinda the risk we've all agreed to when we decided to modify our cars. That being said, I'll itchbay and moan if I get a ticket, lol.
