Went to the doctor for a throat problem, found out it wasn't anything serious but did find out that I most likely have a stress fracture in my tibia and if so I will need a walking boot for 6 weeks.
Throat, shin, yeah I see how that connection could be made.

Hope you're feeling better soon. I hate the sensation of broken bones in my throat.

It's understandable. Especially for you Tuna, with the amount of itshay you spout.

We've seen you in action in Mexico, we all know just how much bone you can take in your throat.

And I thought this was over....

Landlords are now trying to take $1000 from my damage deposit due to "junk removal, overall cleaning and damage".

I spent an entire day with my family scrubbing that suite down to make sure it was perfect (we took photos and a video once done cause we knew something like this would happen). I also left nothing behind for them to charge me $300 for junk removal (basement tenants had junk uckfaying everywhere) and there was literally no damage besides some nail holes from hanging pictures.

This is uckfaying crazy.

I think its getting to the point of going to court now. Between the negligence of the property management company and the theft from the other tenants. I'd be going over your contract with the property management company along with the Residential Tenancies Act and seeing what services they are suppose to provide to you by contract and by law. Ignoring the actual theft itself which goes against the other tenants, it was the blatant negligence on part of the property management company that failed to prevent it and subsequent thefts, not to mention the damages.

I don't do tenancy stuff, but the RTDRS can be helpful in these situations, and it's known to be tenant-friendly. The facts seem quite sympathetic. You had ittshay neighbors, the landlord didn't give a itshay, the neighbors stole your stuff and broke into parts of the property, the landlord still gave no itshays, and now the landlord is trying to withhold $1000.

I'd start by asking the landlord to provide photos, invoices or other documents to show the damage and the junk. By the sounds of it, he won't.

Thanks for the input everyone!

My uncle is a lawyer and he is writing up a letter for me and if they don't respond appropriately then we will file a claim pursuant to the residential tenancies act.

I spent an entire day with my family scrubbing that suite down to make sure it was perfect (we took photos and a video once done cause we knew something like this would happen). This is uckfaying crazy.

Is there any clause or agreement within your rental agreement that states the place must be as clean as you received the unit?
Did you and the landlord conduct an inspection together upon receiving the unit and upon vacating the unit?

There are two sections within the Residential Tenancy Act that speak to Security deposits and how certain provisions must be met if the landlord wishes to withhold any of the deposit.
Section 46 (2) reads as follows (full copy & paste)

46(1) In this section,
 (a) “deliver” means to deliver by personal service or send by
regular mail or registered mail;
 (b) “normal wear and tear” in respect of residential premises
means the deterioration that occurs over time with the use of
the premises even though the premises receive reasonable
care and maintenance;
 (c) “security deposit” includes any amount owing to the tenant
as interest under section 45 at the time of the expiration or
termination of the tenancy.
(2) A landlord who holds a security deposit shall, within 10 days
after the day on which the tenant gives up possession of the
residential premises,
 (a) deliver the security deposit to the tenant,
 (b) if all or part of the security deposit has been deducted in
accordance with the conditions agreed to by the tenant,
deliver to the tenant the balance of the deposit, if any, and a
statement of account showing the amount of the deposit
used, or
(c) if the landlord is entitled to make a deduction from the
security deposit in accordance with the conditions agreed to
by the tenant but is unable to determine the correct amount
of the deduction, deliver to the tenant the balance of the
deposit, if any, that the landlord does not intend to use and
an estimated statement of account of the anticipated
deduction and, within 30 days after the day on which the
tenant gives up possession of the residential premises,
deliver to the tenant the remaining balance of the deposit, if
any, and a final statement of account.

(3) If a landlord fails to return all or part of a security deposit to a
tenant in accordance with subsection (2), then, whether or not a
statement of account was delivered to the tenant, the tenant may
commence an action in a court to recover the whole of the deposit
or that part of the deposit to which the tenant claims to be entitled.
(4) In proceedings taken under subsection (3), the court
 (a) shall determine the amounts, if any, that the landlord is
entitled to deduct from the security deposit in accordance
with the conditions agreed to by the tenant, and
 2004
Section 47 Chapter R-17.1 RESIDENTIAL TENANCIES ACT
37
 (b) if the deductions so determined are less than the amount of
the deposit, shall give judgment in favour of the tenant for
the balance.
(5) No deduction may be made from a tenant’s security deposit for
normal wear and tear to the residential premises during the period
of the tenant’s tenancy.
(6) A landlord shall not make a deduction from a tenant’s security
deposit for damages to the residential premises unless the
requirements respecting inspection reports under section 19 have
been met.

Sorry for the wall of words. I wanted the entire section on here so that you can read through it in its entirety.

So, with Section 46 fresh in your head, we go on to what Section 19 says.

Inspection report
19(1) A landlord and tenant shall inspect the residential premises
within one week before or after a tenant takes possession of the
residential premises, and the landlord shall, forthwith on
completion of the inspection, provide the tenant with a report of the
inspection that describes the condition of the premises.
(2) A landlord and tenant shall inspect the residential premises
within one week before or after the tenant gives up possession of
the residential premises and the landlord shall, forthwith on
completion of the inspection, provide the tenant with a report of the
inspection that describes the condition of the premises.
(3) A landlord may complete the inspection without the tenant if
the landlord proposes 2 inspections to take place
 (a) on different days,
 (b) on days that are not holidays, and
 (c) between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.,
and no adult person who falls within the definition of tenant agrees
to take part.
(4) For the purposes of subsection (3) the landlord may propose
alternative inspection times, with the inspection to take place on the
2nd date and time if it does not proceed on the first date and time.
(5) A report must contain the prescribed statements and be signed
in accordance with the regulations.
(6) A landlord shall
  (a) keep a copy of an inspection report prepared under this
section for at least 3 years after the termination of the
tenancy, and
 (b) make the inspection report available for inspection by the
Director or an authorized person for the purposes of an
inspection or investigation under Part 6.

So all of this legal jargon is essentially saying what Amby said. If your landlord can't produce the inspection reports, receipts of clean-up and junk removal they have no legal grounds to with hold your security deposit, or a portion there of.

This is a real 1st world problem here.   Today I am changing some badges etc on my car. I am trying to remove the front red STi badge off the grill, and I see there is going to be no possible way of doing it without taking the whole front end off !!!!! Why this mostly sucks, is the front bumper was just off less than 2 weeks ago, and I didn't do it then !!! and I'm alone here at work, so have no help to re -install it, or even run to get more push clips if 1 or 2 happen to break or be too worn out to re-use !!!!

I guess I'll just leave it on for now, though its going to look really stupidly out of place by the end of the day.
I'll admit I am old. In my day of tuning cars, all you needed was a long flat blade screwdriver, a custom bent 9/16" wrench, and a timing light!

Haven’t been feeling great for the last 2.5 weeks. Went to a doctor last weekend and basically got brushed off. Have been feeling even worse (constant nausea, always hungry, sweats, and finally a really good stomach ache today) so I went to the ER. Turns out some of my liver functions are skyrocketing, need to have a ultrasound tomorrow and more blood tests to monitor my liver functions.

Feels bad man.
I don't name things I know I'm going to sell eventually. Hence why I'd never name any kids I had.

I’ve got an enlarged spleen and a very large lymph node in my abdomen. They think I have mono which is why my liver is going mad and I haven’t been feeling well for about 2.5 weeks, but the spleen and lymph node are inconsistent and may require specialist inspection and monitoring.
