I figured i'd toss this up incase anyone is interested.

I have 9 years of ski tuning experience, as well as 15 years of skiing experience, so i like to think i know what i'm doing. Basically, if you want to get your skis ready for the season i'll sharpen/wax/base repair your skis for $40, which basically covers materials and the 1/2 hour it takes to do them. This is cheaper than most shops i've seen, and i do it by hand (most shops put it through a machine).

if anyones interested, just shoot me a PM

I too, would like to know if you do snowboards. Live in morinville but I can drop off anywhere in Edmonton. Probably won't need a tune until january-ish, but at that time I can probably have 3-5 that will need it.

So road trip to Edmonton? I think we could keep you busy for a day. But you'd have to do snowboards ass-well.

A lot more to tuning skis or a snowboard than that. Base repair take a lot of practice and skill. And getting the proper angle when sharpening edges is important. The wax is the easy part.

what a edge tool is for..if not get a file at home run it on a 45 degree angle for sharpening and rusting if it's occured.
but yea..def experience is good but if someone puts time into their board forsure. but 40 bucks is still decent to just drop off and let someone do their thing forsure and they have the material.
but a edmonton trip...bit far for that unless they want to come here.haha

dont let steeds touch your skis  ;)

i sharpen edges at either 88 or 87 degrees depending on the ski.

the issue i have with snowboards is i dont have a vice big enough to hold the board down when i'm scraping the wax, but i can probably figure something out

These are some decent videos that I found sometime last year I think.

Sorry to derail this but what wax do you guys use. I have been using Toko for well, I remember my Dad using it when I was little to wax my skis so my whole life.

SWIX ultra high fluoro wax with super cera F powder compound waxed in with it.  i also like holmenkol waxes and nanox.

What's the expected turn around time? My skis are definitely in need of some TLC.

I usually find race waxes don't make a difference for your day to day rider as long as it's temp matched to the snow.

i can do a pair in about 30 minutes as long as they're not beat to hell, if so, it'll take a bit longer.

i've only ever used race wax as we have pretty much a lifetime supply, it can't hurt to use the good stuff though!
