Oil pressure sender has a tapered thread. Just make it tight, don't worry about the gap.

That is a huge relief.  Thanks!

So... I caught a cold this weekend and ended up not finishing the install. But Jeff was kind enough to lend his garage and help this evening. Jory also came by, unbeknownst to me, to work on his car.   I thought he just wanted to feel guilty in my righteous presence.

Cliffnotes:
-Jeff thinks my car could use more abuse
-I take a very long time doing things. Its not so much the doing, it's the deciding of what to do.
-the grommet by the pedal assembly is great, once you find it
-a soldering iron makes a nice hole through the grommet
-Jory is good at putting grommets back in

And the gauges work! Woot Woot!

Pretty much. Also, I came late so I could mock without doing anywork (actually, I was waiting for Canada post).

I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.
But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.

When does the EBCS go in? ;)

Not soon enough  :)

I have a baseline date with Sunny on May 4th, and then I have until July before this kid comes into the world:

So my goal is to have the rest of the parts in and the car tuned before that happens :)  ...because...  after that, we're going to have to re-budget things and I'm sure my fun money's going to be hit harder than AB's Distance Learning Centre.

Apex installed my KillerB oil pickup and baffle.  You can read my review here: http://www.westernsubaruclub.com/smf/index.php?topic=27345.msg439375#msg439375
I was a little disappointed that the crack on the stock pickup wasn't as dramatic as Jeff's.  In fact...  There isn't really any crack at all (yet - maybe).  Oh well, the peace of mind is priceless.

So last night, I was at:

And then:

Happy birthday car!

To celebrate, I finally slapped on the lip kenzo GB'd long time ago.  Wow!, the sex appeal shot up x10.  For future reference, lip install is a two person job.

These also came in last week:

I've never had real summer tires in my life, except for Potenzas that first came with the car, but they were bald and cording so that didn't last long.

So, all in all, lots of exciting stuff ahead!

PS.  I'm pretty happy with the seats after disabling the back springs, but I'm tempted to pick up some v7 JDM's...  I don't know if I'm willing to lose the airbags...

Sweet!  Congrats to you too!

Love that gauge swoop pic.

Thanks :)  It came out with more motion blur than I would've liked, but oh well  :'(

Today, I sat in cmyles' JDM seats, and it was a moment of Philadelphia Cream Cheese.  My wife doesn't like the USDM seats either, but her complaint is that she feels like her shoulders are being rolled inwards and fowards from the shape.  So I thought she'd reject the JDM's being that they are all the more huggy.

But she likes them.

On the ride home, she started falling out of her seat whenever I turned a corner.

Cheeky  :-[

Now...  Is it really worth reducing our chance of survivability for these beauties...

Arg.  Well, they look pretty useful, albeit pretty small.

So, today, a parent had her suv parked beside mine after school, and her kids decided to pick pineapples off their pizza and toss them out the window.

Onto my car.

Idiots.

So, after washing off some baked pizza sauce and other various grease stains, I went for a quick shoot.  Here's a shot of how she looks with the new lip.

There's two videos, in case you only caught one.  The first one is of an Impreza, but for whatever reason, it only shows up as a link.

Yeah, the airbags don't look like much, but still functional.  Despite that...  I went ahead and bought the seats...

Yesterday was a mostly happy day.

Firstly, because the car only has 17 different places that says STi, I put one more on, courtesy of WRX_RA:

Then I ran off to see this place:

Actually, I couldn't find the place, but thankfully, Sunny ran out to wave me down as I made a second pass.  He was just finishing up with a super nice red Evo X.  He and owner drove off for a road test, and I could hear it the entire time.

Well anyway, here are my numbers:
http://www.westernsubaruclub.com/smf/index.php?topic=35064.msg442671#new

218!  Woot!

I prepped myself the night before by watching cars explode or fall of dyno's on youtube.  But watching Sunny work brought quick relief to my anxieties.  He did have some bad news for me however.  When he was done with the runs and unstrapping the car, Sunny noticed my rear swaybar was flipped, and the endlinks were rubbing against the control arms.

It looks like this:

(pics taken from: http://www.iwsti.com/forums/gd-suspension-handling-stiffening/245754-rear-struts-endlinks-2005-sti.html)

Being that I have little to no knowledge on this stuff, I have no idea how long they've been like that.  The above link suggests that the sway bar can flip if the rear wheels are at full droop, during shock installs.  Well, it's had plenty of opportunities to go full droop:  I had a shop install springs 8000 miles ago, and since owning it, I've lifted the rear end to install outrigger bushings and to swap tires.

At this point, I'm just thankful that Sunny caught it.  I'll try flipping them over tomorrow and go from there.

Heh. My swaybars did that. Not because of droop, but the dude who installed them was an idiot.

Unrelated side note: I installed them.

Not long. It put a dent in my lateral links and my endlinks, but they seem alright.

The swaybar flip happened on my car as well (to the PO)
I have the same endlink dents in the alumn lat links that you now have.
No big deal, stick in some good endlinks (kartboy) and be on your merry way.

Ah, thanks.  Endlinks (and swaybar?) I can handle, but I'd be a bit miffed if I had to buy new control arms, as I had no original intention of replacing them.

uckfaying endlink bolts.  What the uckfay.
The stock ones?
You need a 5mm allan key to hold the stud connected to the ball.
Then a wrench on the nut.
Twist in opposite directions.
A la http://filtsai.com/sti/front_sway/front_end_link_removal.jpg

Also, lube.
Lots and lots of lube.

...I'm not sure how I feel about this post.

EDIT: woops, I think the above only applies to the front endlinks.
The rears don't have a hex hole. They have a flat washer RIGHT next to the boot.
Hard to explain.
These *aren't* stock endlinks, but the idea is the same.
http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t149/axelthrasher/Subaru/IMAG0297.jpg

See right at the base, beside the boot, there's a bit with 2 flat sides. Put a wrench on that to hold it. Then a wrench on the nut.
Then turn.

At least ONE of the above methods will work.

That reminds me I need new front endlinks, I stripped flange on the inside last time I tried to take them apart so bad that id rather just cut them off than deal with them any further.

Yeah, thanks Snackers.  I squished the itshay out of the boots to find the flats.  I didn't have a 14mm wrench, and someone here (http://www.iwsti.com/forums/gd-suspension-handling-stiffening/202880-tips-removing-rear-endlinks.html) suggested to use vice grips.  So I did that and/or used a 9/16's.

I got the passenger side off, but the driver side...  The nut's 3/4's and I've stripped the washer.

My above cursing was in response to the stripping.

I'm just going to cut the freaking thing off and feed it to my neighbors dog that won't shut up.

On the bright side, the lateral links are chewed, but still have plenty of mass for structural integrity (maybe).

1) Glad I provided you another sig.
2) Should've done it at jeff's place.
3) Why didn't you just lift the rear and have the wheels sag, then reposition it?
4) Now you know how I feel about every bolt seizing on my car.

I should have asked Jeff.  And I did.  After I screwed things up.  He then offered his place, but then I postponed it.

I did try to reposition the sway bar at full droop, but as I was underneath the car, man-handling the thing, I was afraid I might lift the whole car off the jack stands, lose strength, and have the rear end crash on top of me...

Rather, the bar wouldn't budge.  I'm too scrawny and weak-sauce.

Anyway, you shouldn't feel bad swearing in my presence;  I swear all the time.  Just, mostly in my head.
