I have nothing to contribute other than I'm jealous and this is awesome.
Me, too. Very jealous of the skills, patience, and dedication.

Transmission mount is finished finally.  Was hard to find time over the holidays here but was able to get away to the shop for a bit to get this unit complete.  As of tomorrow the engine and trans will be fully supported by their mounts.  A pretty big milestone!

No there is a urethane Energy trans mount between this and the trans.

Transmission and engine are now fully on their respective mounts. Feels amazing to have that portion completed!

Also can’t forget a picture of my shop helper!

Got another few batches of parts ordered up.

-large assortment of fab materials including turbo manifold pipe, IC piping, intercooler core and decided to get the TSSFAB rear subframe to mount my r200 diff.

Upon trying to modify my factory rear subframe I realized that the r200 just wasn’t going to fit nicely without being hacked to hell.  So I’m pretty excited to have the TSSFAB subframe getting made.  Should be slick.

Well got my jig made for cutting the collectors last night! Works so dang well.  Then today I did a bunch of test cuts with pvc to dial in my angles before cutting the stainless.  Now the collector is all tacked together and ready to be final welded tomorrow.

Thx everyone!!!

I couldn’t be happier with how this manifold project is turning out.  I’m very impressed with the Furick cups and the vibrant metal quality.   Everything is purged and cleaned to perfection. Now to make the runners!

How do you get the TIG between the collectors to weld to the flange after you do one set of 3?

An extremely long tungsten stickout, tinfoil Argon damn and using a large cup.

This past week I’ve made some solid progress.  My other turbo manifold materials arrived late so I switched my attention over to the intake manifold.  I decided to take the factory lower runners, port and shave them, then weld on a new plenum.  I still have to weld on the rear plenum cap and TB flange but it’s basically done and fits very well.  The cast lower runners welded decently as well. Very time consuming to get the runner fit up perfect to the plenum. Should have the IM done this weekend.

Had a pretty productive weekend again! Got the TB flange and plenum back cap welded on. This means the IM is officially complete, except for powder.   But that’s all being done once all fab is complete.

Today I finally got around to making the turbo manifold jig.  I decided to go bottom mount.  You don’t see many of them, intake temps will be a bit lower, and the exhaust routing is much straighter.  It’s going to look wild!

The 6-1 looks like a masterpiece.

Q: will the firing sequence affect the gas flow into the exhaust turbine? I mean, I'm no expert and I'm used to seeing a single collector feeding into the hot side... which I assume is to smooth the gas flow pattern. Just curious.

The way it’s designed, coupled with the firing sequence, will produce a very smooth and efficient exhaust delivery. It’s a full equal length  twinscroll design which should produce some great results.  Right now the turbo is just single scroll but will be putting a twinscroll on eventually.

Well I last minute decided to order the new icengineworks manifold modelling pro kit to design perfectly equal length runners and make life much easier.  Should be here Monday then it’s go time on the manifold.  It’s like LEGO for the car nut haha!
