As for power mods...   it's plenty of power as is.

Oh how many times have I heard this before.

You left out the weasel word section of "because I've been driving a Honda".  I entirely expect to get used to it, 'cause you always do.

Congrats Grant! Good to see you back in a Subaru. 2nd dibs on the civic.

Man, hindsight is weird.

I can understand where some people were coming from with their opionions. The power delivery in a stock STI is pretty surgey/laggey/non-linear, but I missed it.  That surge of turbo tq, as opposed to the smooth linear NA (torqueless) S2000. Yes, it doesn't handle like a stock S2000.  Yes, the seating position is very upright.  Somehow I'm nostalgic for all that.

Also, I after having owned/modded a 2.0L WRX I can't help but think about everything on this car as already being an upgrade.

Struts, springs, sways, brakes, wheels, turbo, IC, motor, exhaust, transmission.  You could do all those mods to a WRX & only end up where this car is Starting from!  (But I'm also aware that if I do mod it, there is at least as much to gain as I did by doing the same mods on the WRX...)

I remember the ASC member/thread you're referring to, but I still have to chime in that factory tuned cars (AMG, ///m, -V, STI, Ralliart, Mazdaspeed, etc) are pretty cool.  And doubly so for homologation specials!

I wholeheartedly agree, especially after seeing that CR S2000 at Namao.

Random rant.

The hell Subaru?  Is UI consistency not something you worry about?

WRX heated seat switches.

Up = High = roast.  Down = Low = simmer.  Seems sensible to me.

But the STI DCCD controls go in that spot, so instead the heated seat switches end up on the door (Passenger) and with the other dash buttons (Driver)

Passenger, see above WRX switch.
Driver: Up = Low = simmer.  Down = High = roast.  Wut?

You "parts bin" everything else across your entire range, and you then you do a different _drivers side_ heated seat switch for only the STI?!?

If it makes you feel any better, when I did the 05 interior swap, I didn't know where I was supposed to put the heated seat switch, so it's sticking out of my e-brake boot. Also my DCCD switch and roller are upside down.

SMH...

:o  How, why...  May I ask what made you reach the point of just dusting off your hands & calling it "good enough" at that point?  :o

Are the clips on the underside flipped along with which side the writing is on?

I have an answer to both my quandry and yours!

How does this fix my issue? All this tells me is that if I found an 05 roller, it may not even work. But yes, the clips are essentially on the wrong side, so the large "C.Diff" is pointing away from me, I need to roll it towards the front of the car to get it to full open, and down towards me for full lock. (Or whatever the "proper" terms are).

I want to move the heated seat switch (since I only have a drivers side heated seat), but frankly I don't have much motivation for these small projects these days. Maybe in the spring, I'll relocate it, but that's potentially a lot of wire to get it to the right spot.

I interpreted it as "The roller is the same, the printing on the face changed."  That's why the shape of the hole is flipped and so are the resistance the roller provides.  It also explains why the drivers side heated seat switch is "upside down"

I wasn't looking for a solution for you, I was looking for a _justification_ for why your switches fit in upside side along with why the drivers side heated seat switch logic is reversed.

Yea, I recall rs_two_five discovering that when he tried/planned to do an STI wiring harness swap.

Apparently I am one of the last to know about this.  Grant,  congrats on getting back into a Subaru,  I know that's where your heart remained.  Christened the new addition yet? If not,  may I suggest Car Ramrod.

Cars don't get names.

This is "The STi", the fun Honda is "The S2000", the boring Honda is "The uckfaying Civic"...
