Finally got around to it!

(Decided to exercise the Civic before parking it... and it's door ding proof compared to the STi/S2000)

Both carguyjon & ultimatt were aghast to see the ears torn right off the old trunk hinges.  So maybe my pics didn't properly convey the carnage.

Say...  What trunk mat do you have there?

Haha. A $0.50 GD wagon trunk mat I grabbed at Pick N Pull for seatsafetyswitch, but he never showed up to get it so I wedged it into my trunk since it fits "okay".  (it curls up a bit at I/C spray tank, but otherwise the shape around the strut towers are pretty similar).

I kept my Forester trunk mat from when it was written off with the intention of selling it. But it's been living a nice curled life on the IC side too :D

It really doesn't fit any worse than the OEM winter floor mats do.  :P

Skid plate got "cleaned"

All done!

Last time I said something similar to this (different car), it was smoke and when I opened the hood my engine was on fire!

Thankfully the rads are pretty easy on these cars, if you like dumb big coolant all over the frame and exhaust.

So, after a month of smelling burning (and sometimes fresh) coolant, and having to top up the reservoir I figured something must be wrong.

Lessons learned:
  • Make sure the hoses are all the way on
  • Make sure the clamps are actually tight

Crap that doesn't belong on your cooling system:

The t-bolt clamp was loose, because I couldn't tell if it was tightened or just galled & I was afraid I was going to crush my radiator neck.  Turns out it was loose & weeping on to the top (and down) my radiator

Frigging wingnut hose clamp was loose, probably because it was never tight enough because I couldn't get my hand in there to get leverage on it.  Awesome for installing dishwashers... uckfaying ullbayitshay for automotive.  No, don't use it. Don't even have it in the garage.

Stuff that does belong on your cooling system:

See the round rolled edges?  See the formed (not cut) threads on the band?  See the handy slot and 7mm hex?

(Your homeboy & mine Dave Coleman approved, I grabbed these while at the Pick N Pull grabbing parts for snackers new project).

No more coolant loss, or smell, and it was 6k since the last oil change so I crossed off the "spring" oil change for this car.

Finally put the skidplate & intake snorkel back on, which had been off since the "rad fun".  Also had to drill & ziptie a front corner of one of the fender liners...  "jellynuts life"

Hopefully it'll be racking up the km slower once a certain "top down mobile" gets out of the garage.
