Sorry to bump a not too old thread but I have v4 Wrx Sti. Since I got it I have put 6k km without any troubles other than a crack in the rad. Mine too is boosting pretty high like almost 19psi. It hasn't given me any trouble but it worries me.

Not sure on the v3+ but if you guys are worried about running high boost, why not purchase a manual boost controller and bring the boost down a bit. Whenever I am getting close to oil change time or during the winter months, even Iif I suspect somthing is wrong I run wategate spring pressure  7-9 psi. Still fun but less likely to damage anything.

I have a V4 with the EJ20k and when i brought it over it was bone stock plus a boost gauge. It was always running 17-18 PSI stock and now that it's tuned with a TBE and intake it still runs 18 PSI. It's been a year now and no problems.

My stock V3 has also always run between 17-19psi, but my map sensor might be going though...
