I'm sure it wouldn't be difficult to strike an organizing committee over here for organizing something like that. The only issue will be track availability.

Im sure how much castrol might charge may factor into things. But I really like the setup drawn up. Although i would say the show and shine could just be the pits as well. Gives a huge space.

Probably don't want people showing off cars in the same place that others are staging for the track. That's just asking for crowd control problems, accidents and liability concerns.

By "pits" I think he means paddock.

I'm not sure if this can happen this year. I think that there are too many unknowns to be successful. Once castrol has a chance to run for a year and get all of the kinks worked out in their rentals than it'd be a lot easier to put on.

It was suggested to me that we organize a meet during an NASCC road race and all buy lapping passes. If there is a big enough group we can ask for a reserved spot in the paddock for our meet. Then we can bring bbq's and other stuff on our own. Also we would be able to watch the real racing going on. If we do that then all of the organizing and insurance and other requirements will be taken on by another club that is well established at putting on events.

For this year I think that's our best shot. Once the race dates are announced we can designate an "official" WSC meet race and get a block of lapping passes reserved for WSCers. Who knows, if we have lots of interest we may get more track time too (happened last summer at the city centre airport track)

Super Track Meet 2013?

^^^ I think that is a fantastic idea for a first year. I also agree on waiting to allow Castrol to get themselves sorted out... Organizing events with them isn't always clear as glass to begin with, let alone a new track with new rules, (probably) new staff and using multiple facilities at once... Let's just try and do a meet where we can drive in an organized fashion and don't have to worry about quite so many logistics.

Ok. I will bring our interest to the NASCC. They are right in the middle of the ice race season so road racing won't be discussed until at least March.

How many interested participants would we have? It would be a useful statistic to bring forward.

NO! Subaru's only!  ;D

I'm kidding, you can come play, but I'd expect that you'd rather be racing than lapping since it would happen during an NASCC race event. I will hopefully be racing, so lapping won't work for me. But if my car is broken then I will definitely be getting in on the lapping action.

I'd be interested in coming out to play. I'd be popping my cherry , unfortunately no show and shine for me. Due to rock chips and what not I'm missing some paint from my front tow hook access cover. At first I was rather sad but now I think of it as a beauty mark. Anyways, I'm all for taking my time and learning and trying my hand at autocross/time attack.  ;D

Doesn't have to be a show car to show off  ;)

If we are going to go lapping at an NASCC event then we are at the mercy of their schedule. Dates are not yet being discussed since they are in the height of their Ice Racing season. Expect dates to be discussed in the spring sometime. Once they have firm dates we can approach them with an offer to buy out an entire lapping session for WSC'ers.

is there a " ball park " weekend? or even month?

Im supposed to book my time off by the end of this month but i might be able to work something out if i have some idea of when it will take place. I understand we have no real control about the date but just curious if we would at least know the month/weekends?

Nope, sorry. They should have a bunch of races over the summer (4-5 weekends) as long as we get a track, so there will be some flexibility on which weekend we choose to invade.

I know the feeling about having to book leave. I have to have mine in by the end of the month, and used up most of my leave to book off every potenetial weekend that there's racing so that I can attend most of them. Gonna try to get a bunch of points in my rookie season ;)
