When do you recommend doing the timing belt, after the first time? Every 100,000km afterwards?

My second one is coming up REALLY quickly...

We recommend every 96,000km

How about for the first timing belt change?  If I remember correctly, last time I brought my subaru to the dealership, they said the timing belt is changed at 160 000kms.  That seemed fairly high as my other cars, I used to change it every 100000kms.  My car just reached 100000 kms a few weeks ago.  A quick google search came up with 105000 miles which is pretty close to 160000kms.

Subaru recommends 168000km's, unless you live in harsh conditions. Canada is considered a harsh condition. It depends, you can do it as early as 100k, or you could inspect it and base it off that. There's also the possibility your belt is fine, but your idlers are nearing end of life. I did my 04 STi @ 140k last summer, and the belt was pretty toast.
If the sea was vodka, and I was a duck.
I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.
But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.
If you're having forum problems, I feel bad for you son, I got 99 problems but your post ain't one.

Most other manufactures (Nissan, Mazda, Toyota ect) recommend replacing every 96,000km with our climate and so do we.
