Help installing Double Din
« on: February 21, 2013, 09:57:38 pm »
Anyone in Fort Mac can help me this weekend installing my double din? I hate wires and no matter how many times I read the instructions I just don't get it.  Mars636 installed my last Clarion and he made it look so easy.  I have the subaru harness that has to be tied into the Clarion harness and than some more wires gotta hook up for ground and power. I can not wrap my head around it.

Cheers
Anthony

A deck install is literally the least difficult thing to do. Especially in these subarus.

Take the clarion harness you have, and literally color match what goes to the subaru adapter harness you purchased.

You will have a few extras on the clarion unit (brown, light green, purple/white)

Brown is mute. Do not hook this wire up.
Purple/white (I believe, it may be just purple) is your speed sense wire. Unless you want your deck to show your speed, which honestly who cares, do not hook it up to anything, just cut it down)
Light green. This is your parking brake wire. You can do one of two things with this. Hook it up to your e-brake wire. This will mean you have to pull up your ebrake to enable watching video, or adjusting your navigation while driving.
Other option is to hook it up to a switch for continuous video, or use a TR7 module for continuous video.

If you were local to me I'd take the 10 minutes and do it for yah.

I have a module so I don't have to pull the ebrake. I guess I join the green wire from the clarion harness with the green from the module and voila it works.

Just the ones you need brother.
Dont hook up the
-mute wire
-illumination wire
-blue wire
-purple/white wire

then just color match everything else.

hook up the blue on the bypass to blue/white on your clarion.

Hey all so not sure if there's a new thread for this kinda of question but hopefully some one might know.
So I recently bought a 99 GF8 Version 5 WRX. It came bone stock except rims and a turbo timer. It had a OEM Factory Double Subaru Din in it. So I got it out. Took the factory brackets and put them on my new Deck.  http://www.visions.ca/Catalogue/Category/Details.aspx?categoryId=19&productId=22871&sku=BV9356I
Got it on sale for $98. Anyways my problem is that its hard to adjust or find a proper hole on the Deck its self for my brackets to fit. Spent over an hour raising it and came to the point where I had to take out the little tray next to my cigarette burner on the bottom to get it to fit. All being say its in the car but now my trim doesn't fit on properly so I'm wondering if Ebay sells something for JDM to a USDM type of deck or if I gotta go redneck custom fab up my own brackets lol... Thanks. I do have pictures of it just not uploaded yet. Will do soon as I get a chance.

Not sure about your car but mine apparently has a factory signal booster. I found that out when my fm radio started to lose signal in the city. I just have my blue wire hooked in to my 12v constant. Works a hell of a lot better now. Give that a try if you get the same issue.
