Where did you order your clear side markers from?

It took me nearly 3 months to track down a set (front and rear) and I had to order them from Australia.

Make your own!

Project-G. They're DEPO pieces.

Changed various fluids today: oil, transmission fluid and differential fluid.

Decided to go with Valvoline Synchromesh in the transmission to replace the Redline that was in it. For the differential, I used Royal Purple.

I also installed my Revlimiter hazards switch. I'll take a picture later. I now have toggle switches for my hazards and pop up headlights.

Swapped the summer wheels over, and put the hardtop on.

I also need to order a new center tombstone. Mine is all buggered so my center console doesn't fit anymore.

Replaced the broken windshield cowl with a new piece. Car looks less ittshay on the outside now.

Also removed the aftermarket headunit. It's preventing the centre tombstone from sitting flat. I assume whoever installed it just didn't give a itshay and mashed it down enough so it wouldn't be an issue until you took the tombstone off again. Gonna run a blanking plate until I have the desire to fix it the right way.

Feels naked now. You should add some cool switches even if they don't do anything.

Sunday was the first autocross of the season. Definitely some cobwebs to get rid of. Did OK, but it'll take a bit more time to get used to how much grip the car has even though it leans like a boat.

On that topic, I ordered new shocks and mounts since the stock shocks are definitely toast; I think they're the same shocks that came with the car 29 years ago. I didn't get anything fancy, just some KYB Excels. I want to move up to STS but can't afford the coilovers I want so for now, I'll stay in ES. New shocks should make a nice difference. I'll order new bump stops too to complete the package.

NA Bilsteins suck, apparently. NB Bilsteins are great, apparently, but then I'd need NB mounts and NB springs.

One of the goons recently picked up some Bilsteins off RockAuto, and the QC wasn't very good on them:

Not to discourage you (Bilsteins rule), but I'd look really close at the welding before I put one on now.

The KYBs are just a holdover until the dollar improves, or I decide to get spit roasted and buy the Xidas anyways.

I mean if you really want to save a few bucks you can come get the half-blown NA8 shocks out of my basement that I was going to throw out soon.

KYBs were fine on my 1.8 - nothing special but that car was supposed to teach me how to drive, not how to spoon feed a set of PSS9s into driving for me.

No love for the kyb agx?

Also Bilstein went greasy and implemented a minimum advertised price policy, the result of which is Rock Auto and many others getting blacklisted. Get them cheap while you still can.

The AGX get terrible reviews. For the price, I'd get Koni Yellows.

Shocks and mounts arrived. Now I just need bump stops and I can replace the 28/29 year stock pieces. I'm going with 58 mm bump stops since they effectively act as a stiffer spring which would help in autocross.

Results from the second autocross are in: my best time of 82.327 was could enough for 15th overall. I'm fairly happy with that given the field.

The course seemed quite Miata-friendly given the numerous tight features that forced larger and faster cars to slow down. My shocks are definitely buggered. Just waiting on bump stops and then I can install the KYB shocks, maybe over the long weekend.
