You should set it up to sell some roasted sweet potatoes at the next autocross.

After 16 hours or so spread over 2 days, I finally finished replacing the stock shocks with KYB Excels, new mounts and GWR bumpstops.

16 hours? 4 hours per corner? is it really that big of a pain or what am I missing?
The 3 is raw.  Lighter than more agile.  The 6 probably feels like a 747.  And by that contrast, my STI probably feels like the Hindenburg.  So GR's are like the International Space Station.

It's supposed to take 4 hours or so. Car wasn't cooperative. 4+ hours were spent on one rear corner because of issues getting a bolt lined up, and finding a spring compressor that works with the tiny rear springs.

Yeah, I had a lot of problems myself getting the big bolt in the rear to line up. It's not a hugely difficult job, it just has little things.

For stock spring compression I pointed the shock away from me, used an impact and the "hope I don't die" method. I think the best way to do those is with a lever-type compressor.

The shocks seem to be a success. Went for a drive and the ride seems better with no weird thuds or clunks. The front sway bar is noisy but it always has been.

After a week, I think everything has settled. The sway bar end links clunk but that's fine.

Autocross #4 is tomorrow. It should be #6, but so far this year, two have been cancelled due to weather or poor attendance.

Nothing much has changed on the car since last time. I replaced the coil packs and installed extended spark plugs, and that's it.

The last autocross of the year is done. Car ran well; it seemed to be more responsive and have more power.

Got stainless steel brake lines put in, along with poly motor mounts. The lines are fine. Strangely, the brake pedal is softer now. The poly mounts are stiff as uckfay. I get a nice vibration at idle. I'm hoping they'll soften with break in.

FWIW after installing polyurethane motor mounts in my RX-7 nothing changed with time.  Still have the same amount of vibration after 10 years.  I added a Powerplant frame brace and a diff brace so the extra new vibrations masked the vibration that the motor mounts added. hahahaha.

You always did love a stiff ride. Especially with that Super-VibeTM action.

STS build update. Bought a Racing Beat header and Racing Beat intake. Plan is to get the header coated.

I didn’t know that was a thing. Looks fun!

These are what I have on my car.

Honestly, they look a little sketch with just sitting on the c-clip at first.. but I guess that is all that is holding the factory perch.

What is the benefit over a proper coilover other than inexpensive, or is that the whole point?

Cheaper, and ability to pick your spring rates. It is a proper coilovers, just not a fancy one.

As much as I agree with this, seems funny for the guy paying 2x to 3x the price to send headers off to U.S for ceramic coat lol. I am still excited to see what happens with that, you're right about the R&D. Meanwhile, I am trying to get set up to ceramic coat my own stuff now lol.

I'm not sure if I'm going to bother with fancy coating. It isn't clear if there will be many, if any, events this year.

If I get set up and it seems okay, send it to me and I will do it haha.

Probably not as fancy, but might look nice and black.
