Looking for all mountain powder ski recomendations
« on: October 14, 2013, 10:05:39 pm »
Looking to get a new set of wider skis this year to substitute with my older pair of dynastars (found them quite lacking in the powder when I went to whitefish last year).

Looking for an all mountain twin tip ski to be used at marmot, sunshine, etc but also a trip down to white fish and possibly a trip or two into bc .

My riding ability is advanced and I am usually hitting up the pow, tree skiing, small cliffs etc.
6'8", 180lbs

Not looking to spend a huge amount so trying to limit myself to last years clearance.

Been looking at a couple:

K2 Side Seth
K2 Pettitor
K2 Kung Fujas
Atomic Ritual
Volkl Gotama
Line Prophet 98
Line Sir Francis Bacon

Any one have any insight or experience on any of these that they would car to share.

I'd recommend some

Rossi S7 if you can find a set from last year. If not this years soul 7 are pretty unreal. Super 7 if you want something bigger

I've only heard good things about rossi's 7 series, and I think the salomon rocker 108's are worth looking at as well.

Skis like the pettitor will be wicked on pow days, but make sure what ever you get will be able to hold up on those average days too :p

The sir Francis bacons would be to soft for you. I would look at either head powder skis or the Rossi soul 7 or super 7. Dps also makes an awesome all mountain powder ski, tho they are a little more expensive. I believe Sundance ski shop in edm carries all 3 of the brands I mentioned

As an S7 owner.

They are cheater skis.  They do a lot of the work for you so can enjoy skiing.

I love mine.

Can't agree more with you! Same with Armada JJ's, they're for cheaters (like me). I love my Armada TST's too, great all around ski you can use every day of the year.

In the category I have skied Bent Chetlers, Rocker2s, Volkl Twos, Czars, Shoguns, 2011 Seths, S7s, Super 7s, S3s, 4FRNT CRJs, Bacons, JJs, and Atlas'. Probably more that I forget.

I own Chetlers and I can't think of a ski that's more fun. They're at the point where I can beat em up a little in the park and now I don't want to ski park skis ever again.

For a fella of your stature, I would go with AKJJs or S7/Super 7. They are far more stable, and at 6'1'' and 180, things get really really squirrelly at fast speeds on a Chet/Rocker/Two/CRJ not to mention overflexing on tight, steep stuff. S7s are truly "cheaters" as canehdianJ said. Big shovels and stiff tails inspire *almost* too much confidence.

New ski day is always the best, good luck!  ;D

boom town sports uller.  I got the 190s and never skiI'd better harder faster more drops nore trees and gullys before . they turn like 160s and carve as good as my carving skis. bamboo core , so light. I got salmon guardians on them last year and they are now my main resort ski and touring ski, mainly because I don't habe a touring specifir ski.  only problem I have woth then is I smash the edges together and rip small slpinters off,  doesent affect performance, also only one shop in vernon knows how to wax them I dobt think they take was very well. made in cresron , I think. payed $500 new
