Thats high quality engine bay porn.

We're all gonna be dead one day so you might as well whip it.

you can take care of it and still whip it. In most circles its called 'aftercare'.

Holy, I've never seen velocity stacks inside the manifold before.  It's all welded up now, but for more porn ideas, you could have a plexiglass top so people don't have to undress with their eyes.

With the engine work out of the way, I could work on the new (not so big) Big Brake Kit!
Ended up getting lucky and scoped up a "FastBrakes" Wilwood kit that had never been used from a local guy. For the price I paid I can't really complain, however if I was paying full price for this I would have been disappointed. The bracket to hold the caliper was too thick, causing the caliper to essentially lock up the brakes when the caliper was bolted down. So I had to machine it down by about 2mm before it would work. On top of that, the new braided line supplied with the kit did not fit in the factory clips, so again some custom work was needed to secure the hose to the shock housing. Minor detail, but still, hardly the bolt on application they are advertising.

Super messy garage:

And installed!

Performance wise they're not too bad. They do feel a little "soft" and there is definitely more pedal power needed. But the larger vented discs are definitely helping with heat. You can see how hot the stock rotors were getting, and these are hardly braking (puny hehe) a sweat. Only ran them with the factory included wilwood pads last year.
For this year I've picked up some Hawk DTC-60's from Shawn @ RallySport to try out on the track, hopefully they have more bite than the wilwoods.

And that was a wrap!

Or so I thought..

Turns out my ingenious solution to make the oil filter sandwich fit.. didn't work.
Luckily oil sprayed straight onto the exhaust manifold so I caught it right away and was able to kill the engine before it lost oil pressure.
I thought I had fixed this in time for the track junkies event (insert zip ties here) but it kept loosening off on me at the event after a couple events. So once I get off my lazy assay this spring I'll swap out the sandwich and move the oil pressure sender back to it's OE location and hope that will solve all the oil issues.

Twas a fun summer though!

What rotors are they running? I've seen some kits that run Honda civic rotors that have been drilled out. How easy would it be to manufacture a set of the caliper brackets again? I may or may not have been sitting on a set of Wilwood Dynalite forged calipers with brand new pads for the last 2 years...

Yeah a few years back haha sure comes in handy I tell you
I also seem to have a few more friends since having it.. coincidence? hahahaha

I believe this kit uses either those or mini cooper discs, I think both are common. I have to do more digging to be sure
The brackets of fairly simple, likely any machine shop could duplicate them, unfortunately I don't have the equipment.
I could pull them off next winter perhaps to get the measurements and what not, put those calipers to good use!
