BoostGravy's 99 2.5rs "NightRunner"
« on: March 23, 2014, 07:57:00 pm »
So I figured that I would start one of these since I will be going pretty hard into it during this summer. The love affair with my Impreza started when I had just sold my 1999 Chevy Silverado and had been looking for another vehicle. Just browsing Kijiji one day, I came across an ad for a 99 Impreza that looked pretty clean and had low km's(129,000). I went to go look at her that night and got even more excited. The next day she was mine after an inspection. I had her for about a couple weeks and then, while getting an oil change done at Kal Tire, my brother pulled his work truck into it. She had a screwed fender, bumper, corner light and mirror. This started my my obsession with getting her the way I wanted. I'll stop talking and let some pictures tell the story!

99% sure I'll be going the na route again for now and to save some money. I'm thinking of turboing the rx7 and I want the impreza to be as reliable as possible haha.

Swap the RS ;)

THIS!

If I was ready to do my engine swap, I'd totally sell you my EJ205 for cheap. Just because turbo swapped 2 door RS's make me happy in pants.

So an update. Bought an engine last night and now I will be ordering gaskets and freshening the engine up with new gaskets, belts, pulleys as well as plugs and wires.

That she should be. Can't wait to start the bodywork after she's done and running. Gotta find me some flares and also a fuel filler neck  :(.

Well you will be cutting out some of the rust for the fender flares?

Im going to cut out some of the rear quarter and patch all the rust then cut out what I need for the flares. Hopefully I can find someone to weld for me. I'll also be following this write up: http://www.rs25.com/forums/f138/t171256-my-rear-quarter-rust-repair.html

So haven't had a lot of time off work but the time I've had, I've been doing the gaskets on the new engine and fighting with my rx7. Ran into trouble trying to get the engine out but she'll come out. Also found out roof racks are amazing for storing parts! Got a new filler neck on the way and ordering flares tomorrow hopefully. Oh and I decided to go with Java Black Pearl for a new color when she's done!

I am somewhat bias to it, but nice choice!

Took a look under the paint at the rust I have. Not as bad as I thought but still not good haha. Getting a quote by our journeyman auto body tech and painter at work for all body work and full respray and then me doing body work and then full respray.

Some better interior pics! Still need a removable wheel and maybe a double din and redoing the headliner. Also doing door cards to match seats!
