So took some time this weekend with it being so nice. Went about changing my diff fluid(some nasty stuff came out haha)

Then replaced my very rusty fuel filler neck(here's the old and the new)

Once that was all done figured I'd install my V5 spoiler and test out my lip to see what it will look like! Also did some engine bay maintenance.

Car is looking very good! I love me some LHD gc8 action  8)

At least your fuel filler neck hasn't started to rust yet. It kinda perplexes me why Subaru would provide absolutely no protection around this steel filler tube :P
How many Km's are on the chassis now? If my car has taught me one thing, it's that you want to install any preventative measures as soon as you can to prevent rusting in the rear wheel arches. :/

Thanks guys! The car currently has 158,000 on her and she is actually rusting so there's some cutting and welding in my future for sure! Part of the reason the filler necks start to rust is that platinum cover for them fills up full of dirt and other stuff and when most starts to rust the neck! That's why from now on I'll be taking it off semi regular to make sure it doesn't rust.

Where'd you get the lip from? Looks good!
Got the lip from a buddy of mine so I couldn't tell you!

So the week I got laid off my left rear wheel bearing went on the car! The diff had been making a lot of humming noises already and so did the bearing so it was a matter of time. Already had a new hub with a pretty new bearing so I just decided to drop the diff and then replace the left hub. Here's some pictures!

(When it's 4am and your diff was being a pain)

Haven't done much to the car but installed a GD center console into the RS today.

Man, there's nothing quite like hand-drawn space anime paired with new (or old) retro music.

So been quite some time since I have updated this thread! Haven't really done a whole lot with her since she has been parked for a little over a year without real access to a garage. But finally brought her home and got to work! I have been looking for a set of wheels to finally flare the car(had the flares for 3 years ;D). When the TinyTankWRX build was parted out I was looking heavily at the wheels but they sold before I could get them. Then they showed up 3 days later on pay day so I went to get them! SO got to the flares over the last few weeks between work. So here is some pictures of everything!

The Wheels.

WAYY too wide for stock fenders!

Cutting the fenders up!

Decided to move my harness up more just incase!

And all installed for now! Need to be painted and "formed" a little tighter and the rear inner fender welded to the outer for some stiffness! Then the rest of my rust dealt with and painted for now. Lots of work to be done! ;D

The day I bought her.

Just to contrast what she used to look like.  Welcome back man!  Looking back, I think you may have been the forum pioneer to use a dildo shifter.  Flares and wheels look great.

I'm trying to decide if I like the wheels or not.
Also, "Daily" and "installed flares" seem to contradict. Are you going to be super sunken during winter?
If the sea was vodka, and I was a duck.
I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.
But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.
If you're having forum problems, I feel bad for you son, I got 99 problems but your post ain't one.

Guess I need to change that daily thing(hasn't been my daily for almost 2 years now!) She won't be seeing another winter as long as I can help it.

Would definitely love too but most likely going to be a 2.0 or 2.5. Always loved the H6 with a turbo and its definitely tempting!

Not too much done unfortunately but got the rear arches welded up and seam sealed. The flares were painted to match the body and finally upgraded my stock speakers in the car and replaced the rear trunk passthrough with an aluminum piece!

Just sort of working away and stocking up parts and figuring out all the work needed to do!

So decided to just refresh the N/A engine for the RS and actually drive her! The clutch was also slipping very horribly so tackled that as well! She now has new timing components, water pump and thermostat, oil separator plate, rear main seal, new head gaskets and pretty much every other seal! Also ended up having to do the clutch slave and master at the same time! Here are some pics!

Going in the garage!

After spending a night after work removing everything necessary to pull the engine out!

Pulled out(had to persuade the engine and trans to separate again)

Dirty and leaky but not to bad

Disassembled!

Old rear main and oil separator plate!

Going back in!

And all done!

Very nice work! What made you want to re-build (sort of) the NA engine instead of going turbo and swapping something else in?

Honestly the reduction of hours at work and the wife losing her job😂. I also really wanted to just drive it again and figured once im done with it in the RS, I can throw it in a Forester for the wife!
