2014 Wsc ride thread
« on: April 13, 2014, 10:24:08 pm »
Went out today and hit some of the trails in terwillegar park.  It's very muddy in sections with some snow as well.  A few trails also have large trees laying across them.

I'm hoping to get out Friday afternoon and possibly Saturday afternoon ass-well if anyone is interested in joining you are welcome to join.

Went and rode some trails in the West Bragg Creek area. It was still pretty wet and muddy in quite a few areas. It was still a good ride and can't wait for things to dry out more....and be in better shape.  :-[

I usually only have time for rides in and around Fish Creek this year it seems... it's usually pretty good riding though!

I rode kickinghorse this weekend. Saturday was a mud bath. Soaked to the bone with muddy water. Sunday was nice and mostly dried up. It was really rough, as usual. I took a beating.

Took a little adventure down to Devon bike park today to look for a few dirt jumps as I haven't ridden any in years besides a couple tiny ones that I could jump across on foot. I told my myself "Stick to the medium ones Kenny, you haven't ridden in years and you don't need any broken bones." I hit the smaller ones twice I think, then the bigger ones a few times like a little girl, then within a half hour I was scrubbing/whipping the big table to transfer into the step up so I could try to squeeze in enough hang time to extend superman seat grabs. Once I put on the headphones with a Slipknot and Lamb of God heavy playlist things escalated quickly, and dangerously until I decided I had a good first day and was going to shut it down before I ate itshay.

Anybody else dirt jump and down for a little cruse/meet/dirt jump session out in Devon some weeknight? It would be nice to have a second person at least to take some pictures/video lol.

Once I'm back I'll fire you a text Kenny.  I'd be down to train myself in the ways of jumping dirt and try taking some action shots.

Ya for sure, Dirt jumping is fairly easy, its more intimidating than it is hard. you just need to start small to get the feel for it, then when you get bored hit the bigger set until you have those on lock down and bored with them. Keep progressing like that and how far you're willing to go will turn into a mind game of having the balls to hit it and how much abuse you're willing to take if something does go wrong lol.
My bike may fall apart next ride though, my rear rim has seen better days and besides my crank arm being welded together once the bearings are gone along with my pedal bearings. I have a new mavic729 to put on it though when I get time and some Saint pedals and crankset ordered and will hopefully be here this week.

Sweet.  That saint stuff should hold up for a little while.  Haha. My main problem is the lack of hitting dirt jumps.  It's been years since I've hit a jump that wasn't on the trail.

I ride and build out on Moose.  I'll definitely keep an eye out for a Kal Tire truck.

Moose Trail day Saturday the 20th.  10:30 @ Ing Mine parking lot.  You bring the labour, MMBTS brings the BBQ & beverages!
You aren't mistaken; this post was solid gold.
