SubMit 86' Super Meet 2014 ideas thread.
« on: April 14, 2014, 09:42:48 AM »
So we are getting the jump on it this year so people have more time to book off the day. And to do that we want your ideas.

Different layout, vendors you want to see, think there should be tunes? Let us know and we will try and have another awesome meet this summer.

One of the guys from the evo club put out an idea on the Wsc Facebook page about having a combined Subaru/Mitsubishi meet.

Hoping to have another huge turnout this year and raise some more money for charity.

Can you make the weather nicer? That's my suggestion.

But on a serious note, the only complaint I have from last year was that people literally seemed incapable of parking in a straight line, so maybe some rope to guide people would work out a little better. Past that, last year was pretty fantastic.

I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.
But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.

I'm all for mixed meet, the more cars, the better.

I'd rather have people park normally in the yellow lines than angle parking if it means we don't have a giant curved line that looks like bum. Or have a person direct the parking and force people to park properly.

I think splitting the difference in distance was a good idea, and that mall lot had tons of room.

I liked the angled parking, but really, you just needed your back bumper to hit that yellow line and stop. At the beginning of the line, it was fine, but by the end, they were in the aisle.

I gotta remember to bring lawn chairs this time haha, but last years meet was awesome. The angle parking looks good but i agree with everyone that we need some assistance in getting the cars lined up lol

The mall was a good place, more volunteers would really help with stuff like parking. If we can have designated people to help with that that would be great.

Maybe Shirts for them, so that its obvious who you can ask questions, or who you can go to for assistance. Catagorys for the cars for prizes, with judges from some of the people who donate prizes. So if VEX donated (just as an example) Have someone from vex to judge, ect.

Music would be great, I have no idea if we could get a local radio station to come out, and set up something and then they can advertise for the event so we could possibly get more foot traffic, of course we do not want to be too loud as their are houses in the area.

Maybe making a map for parking, so that people will know before they come the sections they will need to be in, maybe different catergories. I feel like the GD era of cars had a much longer line (maybe it was GR i dont remmember) and it made for walking around and looking at the cars kinda annoying. I think offering vendors tables and areas in the middle of the event opposed to being off to the side would be a good idea as well. Especially if they have. Keeping things tighter so that cars are not far apart I think is an important.

Who knows who we could get this year for vendors with more time, but we should be able to handle something. Maybe a better system for getting burgers and pops and stuff like that. Something that stream lines things.

I like the idea of having more then just subarus there. I enjoy a good car show, no matter whats being displayed, but it allows for some variety.

Of course these are all ideas, if we could get a group of people that want to work together this year, that would be great. We could disgnate different people for different things. One person in charge of food, one person in charge of admission, one person in charge of parking, couple people in charge of finding vendos to either attend, or to donate towards the charity. Then the people in charge could find people to assist them, so the person in charge of food would locate the BBQ, food required, and then also get people to volunteer to help cook the food, and serve the food.

Person with admission could plan for the table at entrance, and possibly come up with a way to stream line admission so that the entrance does not get bogged down with cars entering.

Of course, these are just ideas. The first year was a success, but there are some areas of improvement.

Agreed. And from a wide pool, so there will be little conflict of interest.

Max one per sponsor/vendor, and at least one normal member.

Zaider and Jutes will get VIP parking for zee german whips.

Multi judges will not be a problem as of now there will be one from each club plus vendors.

parking cones may be doable if time permits BUT i really don't want to go there for 6 in the morning but we might be able to figure something out.

Jukka Let me know I'm pretty sure that Y.E.S.S can provide receipts if needed.

I also do not mind coming a bit earlier to help organize or anything else that is needed.  The bonus would be a nice parking spot

Was there any dates in mind for this year yet?

Maybe if everybody took up 2 spots on an angle centred on the yellow line it would space the cars evenly and keep everybody in straight lines. Even so we should have a few people designated help arrange the cars at they come in, most likely I'll be there so I'll volunteer myself for that or something else that needs to be done. Also may be able to get a sponsor or two who can donate some GC's or prizes, I'll ask a few of my friends who own businesses and see if they are interested.
