Nothing too much to report on other than the fact that I was back in Edmonton the other week and got the car prepped and stored for winter.

I fired it up for the first time in a little bit and after hearing the engine again, I still think some of the valves are bent. Just something not right there. Hopefully I can save up a bit over the winter and work on it again in the spring.

I swear it's just a blue CRX under there. Not big wang gang subaru.

Still looks as good as ever though. Can't deny how incredible these things look.

Great looking car, no doubt.
The 3 is raw.  Lighter than more agile.  The 6 probably feels like a 747.  And by that contrast, my STI probably feels like the Hindenburg.  So GR's are like the International Space Station.

Results from the CarVX report show nothing of concern and basically exactly what I expected. Apologies on the lower res photos (they're all that I was given).

Auctioned 2015-01-12 from Honda Kansai (just west of Osaka) - 3.5 Grade

Some of the things that I find surprising are:

A) The car was seemingly driven for 40,000 km in Canada by the original importer (owner previous to the person I bought it from) without any real modification of the interior. The interior had all of the bits that can be seen in the auction photos when I purchased it including the awful shift knob, awful steering wheel, the JDM headunit, and the boost gauge. I'd normally guess that the PO had swapped parts back in before they sold it, but given that the STI sticker on the rear spat still remained on the car when I bought it I am inclined to say they didn't really care that much about that sort of stuff.

B) One of the two previous Canadian owners were the ones to try to stance out the vehicle by poorly rolling the fenders (causing damage), and running wider stretched tires. Additionally, one of them were the ones to catch the seatbelt in the drivers side door when closing it causing the metal to bend significantly in one spot.

C) This was probably one of the many cars that I was following when I was bidding for another STI back in 2015. I'm proud to say I would have bid on it then, and that I very very likely paid less for it in Canada when I took possession of it.

I also don't really have any update on the car itself at this point in time.

It's still stored away for the winter, and I hope to be able to get back to it at some point in March. A lot is on the go for me right now, so I'm carefully overseeing the next steps that I want to take with the car.

I recently also learned about carVX and had my GTR and my GT25T searched and the results I found to be pretty amazing. I'll post them on my GTR page one of these days.

An underrated tool for anyone that was importing vehicles pre-2018 imo! I might even look up one of my old cars just for curiosity's sake.

How much is it?
If the sea was vodka, and I was a duck.
I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.
But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.
If you're having forum problems, I feel bad for you son, I got 99 problems but your post ain't one.

Yeah, all depends on the CAD/YEN rate but I believe I paid $39 or so.

It's going into First Gear in two weeks. We'll see what comes of that. Hoping my bill is under $5k lol.

Love, its what makes a Subaru, a Subaru.

How did this brand make a name based around reliability lol, Mitsubishi needs to fire their publicists.

I mean, to be completely fair... Any 25 year old turbo-charged vehicle will have issues, and I knew what I was signing up for when I imported six cars over the years haha. This just so happens to be the first that has been an absolute pain in my assay (which I guess is a combination of what the previous five should have been).

Mitsubishi missed their opportunity haha. The Subaru vs. Mitsubishi thing doesn't exist anymore :(

Take me back to the mid-2000's, please.

Decided to hold off on getting my car to the guys at first gear for now.

To be frank, I'm just not around Edmonton that often anymore, and these next two months are no exception. I also made the call that I didn't want to be dropping another few thousand into the car at this point in time. I want to make sure I can easily take on that additional expense, and with a lot of travel and taking possession of my 86 pretty soon here, I figure it's best to wait.

I'm scheduled to have it go in in late July/early August when I'll likely be around for a bit. I will re-evaluate closer to the date and see where I am at in life.

In the meantime, the beast will remain dormant... His time will come.

I figure it's time for an update on this thread. Seeing no updates between June of 2022 until now has me feeling pretty sad about it, but I can confirm that the fire in me to get it going still burns.

The car remains dormant parked up in my parents garage. I live a good thousand kms away from it, but was able to start it and check fluid levels last time I was in town. A quick boost, and it started up without an issue. I still need some investigative work done on the car (as I continue to believe there are head issues among other things), and the car is currently scheduled to have its engine pulled and examined in early April. Following that examination, I will be following through with whatever is needed to get it up and running. Once I have it running, my goal is to work on a few cosmetic things, add my front lip, pdr a couple of spots, possibly get my wheels powdercoated and mounted with some new rubber, and then just drive it.

This car has continued to test my patience, but I believe it is all for the better. Being in a better spot financially, mentally, and hell... even geographically (for driving roads, anyways) all adds up, and I am excited to see where I can take the car this summer.
