Hopefully I will get around to completing a full detail on my 2004 Subaru Forester XT in the near future.

I thought in the meantime I would share with you a detail I did a few weeks back on my 2012 Scion tC. Overall the vehicle was in really good shape and only needed a light polish to remove some of the light swirls. This vehicle has some of the softest black paint I have ever encountered and just looking at it the wrong way will make swirls pop out. Black is tough to keep clean but it is sure rewarding once it is polished.

I apologize in advance for the lack of before photos. I just coated the wheels a few weeks ago and the car was not that dirty.

Process:

Exterior:
Wheels: Sonax Full Effect Wheel Cleaner with various brushes
Tires: Zep Formula 505 Cleaner & Degreaser
Wheel Wells: Zep Citrus Cleaner (4:1)
Pre-wash: CG Citrus Wash & Gloss + Zep Citrus via foam cannon
Tar Removal: Auto Finesse Oblitarate
Wash: CG Citrus Wash & Gloss via 2BM & Wool Wash Mitt
Decontamination 1: CarPro IronX
Decontamination 2: Nanoskin Autoscrub Speedy Prep Sponge (Fine)
Dry: Waffle Weave Towels
Tape: Meguiar’s Automotive Tape
Paint Thickness: Taken using Digital Coating Thickness Gauge
Polish: HD Polish w/ White Buff n Shine Pads via Rupes LHR15ES (5.5” pads) and GG6 (4” pads)
Surface Prep: Detailers Pro Coating Prep Polish
Paint Protection: PBL Diamond Surface Coating
Glass Protection: PBL Diamond Surface Coating
Wheel Protection: PBL Diamond Surface Coating
Tire Dressing: CarPro PERL
Trim Dressing: Wolfgang Exterior Trim Sealant
Glass: Sonax Clear Glass via Glass Towel
Exhaust Polishing: Chemical Guys Vintage Heavy Metal Polish via 000 Steel Wool

No helper this time around. I took advantage of the long weekend and took my time.

Very nice, black looks so good clean.

You hafta show me the process in polishing as I want to get into doing it myself. I'm tired of paying for it.

Drop by sometime  and I can recommend products and the process. I would also be willing to help you do your own vehicle so you can learn what all is involved.

Absolutely. A lot of the details I do with the owner so they get to learn and use my supplies. Obviously I still bill my time but you get to save some money and learn.

It has been awhile since I have updated this post so I thought it was time to do so.

I have slowly been working on my current daily and getting it all cleaned up from the filth of winter. I am also using it as a test bed to try out some new products.

I decided to tackle the wheels, tires and wheel wells first.

Wheels/Tires/Wheel Wells
Wheels: Griots Heavy Duty Wheel Cleaner with various brushes
Tires: Zep Formula 505 Cleaner & Degreaser
Wheel Wells: Zep Citrus Cleaner (4:1)
Tire Dressing: Tuf Shine Tire Clearcoat
Wheel Sealant: CarPro Hydro2

I am really like Hydro2 for a wheel sealant because it is super easy to apply and it works really well. I decided to give Tuf Shine Tire Clearcoat a try as it is suppose to offer MONTHS of durability before it needs to be reapplied. This is probably my biggest beef with current tire dressings because they only last a few weeks. I am excited to offer this product to my customers vehicles.

Engine Bay:
Engine Components: Zep Citrus Cleaner (4:1) with various brushes
Engine Dressing: Sonus Trim & Motor Kote
