New Vehicle Prep - 2014 Honda Fit
« on: June 13, 2014, 03:05:02 pm »
I just completed a New Vehicle Prep on a 2014 Honda Fit with 500kms on the odometer.

A co-worker of mine just picked up this vehicle a week ago and was looking to get the best protection possible. I recommended a nano ceramic coating for ease of maintenance, looks and durability (up to 3 years protection).

I really enjoy doing New Vehicle Preps because I get to show customers how a properly prepped vehicle should look like for delivery.

Process

Exterior:
Wheels: Wolf’s Nano Wheel Cleaner with various brushes
Tires: Zep Formula 505 Cleaner & Degreaser
Wheel Wells: Zep Citrus Cleaner (4:1)
Pre-wash: CG Citrus Wash & Gloss via foam cannon
Tar Removal: Auto Finesse Oblitarate
Wash: CG Citrus Wash & Gloss via 2BM & Wool Wash Mitt
Decontamination 1: CarPro IronX
Decontamination 2: Riccardo yellow clay
Dry: Waffle Weave Towels
Surface Prep: CarPro Eraser & Detailers Pro Surface Prep Polish
Paint Protection: PBL Suface Coating
Glass Protection: PBL Surface Coating
Tire Dressing: CarPro PERL
Trim Dressing: Wolfgang Exterior Trim Sealant
Exhaust Polishing: Optimum Metal Polish via Microfiber Towel

Before Photos:

Overall the vehicle was in pretty good shape and I did not see too much damage inflicted by the dealership.

During Photos:

Nice foam bath to loosen up the dirt

Here is the hood after foaming the vehicle. Notice that the water is flat on the hood. Absolutely zero protection on this vehicle.

IronX treatment doing its thing on the paint. The amount of fallout on a new vehicle always amazes me.

Here is my clay after doing the roof.

After Photos:

The difference between the before and after photos is night and day. The amount of gloss that is brought out of the paint is very noticeable. The owner was ecstatic with the results.

Thanks for viewing and enjoy.

Thanks for the kind words. I should have some Subaru's to do in the future. I know my FOZ will be a great transformation.

Good work.  This is how the dealer should have prepped the car during PDI.  Unfortunately that "process" is just another money grab..
They're going to park their car over there. You're going to park your car over here. Get it?

Yes it is a money grab and you have no idea what techniques or which products they used on the vehicle. Most dealerships are not educated in detailing and the amount of time it takes to do it properly would not be profitable to them.
