SubMit '86 Calgary to Red Deer Cruise - July 26, 2014
« on: July 04, 2014, 06:17:20 PM »
Sup ya'll.

Meet starts at 11. Should probably leave around  9. To change it up from last year we can meet at the Costco at Cross Iron in SW corner of the parking lot. We will head out from there at 9am getting to Red Deer soon enough to hit a car wash before the meet. Bring a radio if you have one.  Hopefully the double left turn towards Deerfoot can keep most of the group together.

We'll lay down some grounds rules for the cruise on the day of. Should probably arrive a little earlier as well.

Please remember that when cruising as a group you are representing the club. Most of you have WSC decals on your cars and they are not hard to spot. If you're going for a cruise with a group of cars, remember:

a) DO NOT SPEED. Don't drive like a jackass. Like it or not, your cars are flashy, people (especially cops) will pay you more attention than they would a minivan. Drive appropriately and you shouldn't have an issue.
b) Plan your route out ahead. If its a bigger group, try to avoid stoplights. You will get split up and people will get lost and you'll end up pulled over somewhere trying to wait for them, instead of cruising. Walkie-Talkies are great to have, but don't rely on them.
c) On multilane roads, stay in a single-file line in the right or centre lane. Don't block traffic. Drive at the speed limit and let others pass you. Let them stare at you as they pass. After all, the whole point is to be seen.
d) Show up with a full tank of gas. Nothing more annoying than starting your cruise and finding out that half the group needs to stop at the closest Shell.
e) DON'T SPEED!
If the sea was vodka, and I was a duck.
I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.
But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.

CrossIron?
We could meet in the industrial across the street, or use Deerfoot to stage, and then cross over and turn around once we regroup.

Crossiron may work well for staging as well.  Allows some people to not have to back track.

I don't know Cross Iron well enough to pick an empty/easy to find part of the lot, near the exit.

If we go CrossIron, the Costco parking lot would be my suggestion for a staging area.

My only concern is that the left turn from Crossiron Blvd to 566 may also split us up, but it's a double left turn with a longer green light (vs. Deerfoot Mall) and a longer stretch of road (vs. Deerfoot Mall's North exit ramp).

Just find the Summit 86 meet group on facebook, join the group and accept the invite to the event. Think they just need the numbers for food.

Yes, wanted to stay and do it but have plans already for the next day.  I should be in Fort MacLeod the weekend before though.

What about the people who hate fatbook and will not join it and can not see the group oh well screw them if them will not post any info about the subaru meet on a subaru forum.

I think you can see the group without an account, but not sure.  Can always send an email about you attending.

I will not create fatbook account,  I hate that site.  Make the information public if you want the public to come.

I'll vouch for you buddy. Don't worry about it.

Can I tow it behind your car? Its really lite (because on all the parts missing).

On a side note I did spend some quality time today making a couple of new parts.

The Mini can tow it.

Go home Subaru. You're drunk.
