My
WRX went out in a blaze of glory a few weeks ago (August 7th), with over 300,000km on the engine and body, so I needed a new all-around car. I've always been a fan of the Forester as a daily and dog hauler, after having briefly had a 2004 FXT back in Ontario. And since Subarus are basically Lego sets, virtually all of my WRX go-fast bits could swap over!
I picked up my
OBP 5MT 2007 Forester XT at the Saskatoon Kia dealership on August 15th, flying in and driving it home. It had 139,600 km, and was farm-dirty but rust free, slightly smoking after my test drive, and with the typical Forester soft brakes and suspension. SOLD!
To pass OOP, I needed the oil pan resealed (no more smoke!), cracked fog lights replaced, and overtorqued wheel studs on 3 of 4 wheels replaced - nothing too shocking, thankfully.
Drove it stock for 2 whole weeks, until this past weekend when I headed up to Red Deer to get all my WRX parts moved over to the FXT.
And so it begins....

I have a few plans to get this car back to a hot daily driver and possible autoX car (until I can afford a dedicated race car). I love the FXT's potential, that the uninitiated don't even realize when they see it on the street! Need to solidify the power mods with a different axleback and Sunny's protune magic; then survive winter, and acquire the XT Sports front end likely next spring.
