ANYONE RIDE DH IN CANMORE?
« on: September 10, 2014, 08:28:08 pm »
Just got my biking mojo back in time for winter... Now I'm itching for some rising but u never have time. If anyone knows of any decent shuttleable trails in canmore, hook me up with some knowledge! Just saw there was a skills Park there and for some reason I always assumed the area was xc/am only. Since it's not in a national park, there's access roads, and I can only assume, decent trails.
Also anyone wanna go rising next weekend? Me and a friend have a couple trucks, but retrieval is laaame.

Not much for shuttleable trails in Canmore. Reclaimer and Riders of Rohan are about it.

It's more of a spandex scene. XC/All-mountain trails.

This point of year onward chances of riding is not good.  especially after these last few days.  Any moisture in town usually means snow up there.  Lots of experience from a few canceled Bow80's due to snow....grrr

Try out Kickinghorse! It's not too far and it's awesome.

Btw, I just remembered this video from Pinkbike that says it's in Canmore and looks like some good DH riding, but I don't know what or where it is.

Yeah rode kh last weekend. It's just a super long day if you only have one day.
I just have a hard time believing NOBODY in canmore is into DH enough to build a half decent trail.
Yeah, maybe the majority is spandex, but there's got to be some outliers...

Oh yeah those look like dece trails. Enough to have some fun on a Saturday anyways.

Do you know where any of em are?

It's possible that it's cleverly edited to look like a trail when it is in fact just the hardest parts of various other xc trails coupled with some alpine riding and some roadside rock face.

The beginning of that video is Razors Edge, halfway between Dead Man's Flats and Hwy 40. Crazy fun, and really challenging. It falls under the "All-Mountain" category, since you can't shuttle it.

Other parts of the video are just around the town of Canmore. A bit by Quarry Lake, some up by the trailhead for HaLing. Just little play areas, not real trails.

dang thats what i feared.

gotta get a pedalable bike...

on one hand i cant believe theres a town full of outdoor enthusiasts and none of em ride bikes downhill.
on the other hand, its canmore and that actually isnt really all that unbelievable.

anyone wanna do a bike-n-camp to kamloops anytime soon? camping on top of Rio is a blast.

Canmorons are the wholesome yoga type of Outdoor Enthusiast. We're all clipless gutter bunnies. Nobody shuttles.

If you havnt made your way to moose yet probably the best shuttle access hill in the area. Bit of a drive from canmore but worth it. If the snow holds off ill likely get out on sunday again shoot me a pm if any of you want in always room.
