Speaking of riding , my board was stolen 2 yrs ago so I have been outta touch with riding.  I was hoping to get a Palmer board this year but they are hard to find anywhere.  Anyone have some good suggestions on a snowboard shop in E-town with some knowledgable and tech savvy peeps to hook me up ?

I am going to Louise this weekend, woohoo looks like it should be good weather. I will be rock boarding it for sure though. I am just happy to be going in November.

my friend went to LL the other day and he said it was crap.. and i dont think they will get enough snow this week to make it any better. its only got one real run open, and loads of grass showing..

id stick to sunshine for the next few weeks..

Yeah I know I have been checking the snow reports. I know it is not ideal, but I don't think what is open at Sunshine is much better. No Angel or Goat's eye. I will be skiing with my girl friend who is a intermediate, we will see. If Louise is really bad on Sunday, we might go to Sunshine on Sunday.

And I am also staying at the Fairmont in Lake Louise so it is super close.

well angel looks like it should be open any day now. they were grooming it yesterday..

i cant see how you say sunshine isnt much better.. LL only has one run, plus the bunny hill and the rail park.. sunshine has 53 runs open..  even without Angel or goat's eye they are all as good or better than that one run at LL...
and there is no grass showing through!!

I dont know much about Palmer gear, but if you want to shop online... these are 2 reputable places I have dealt with.

I've bought a snowboard and lots of gear online before.... worked out really well for me... saved $400 on my Salomon Forecast, got SPX45's for $100, Dialogue boots $100, Relay bindings $125.  All new gear too. If you are buying a complete, you can save a bit on shipping, and if it gets shipped USPS you dont get hit with duty.

I have bought stuff from both of these places in the past few yrs... awsome fast shipping

http://www.evogear.com/shop/snowboard.aspx In Seattle... so your stuff gets here faster
http://www.surftheearthsnowboards.com/In Vermont I think, so shipping takes maybe 2 days more, but some of their prices are a bit better depending on what you are looking at

good luck

I bought my bindings at Evo gear... great stuff

also try

www.steepandcheap.com
www.tramdock.com
www.whiskeymilitia.com
www.backcountry.com (also try their outlet)

These places can't export everything to Canada, but they have a lsit of what they can and can't so check it out. Not so good anymore with the exchange rate, but still pretty good.

well... just wanting to gauge interest for an outing to sunshine or something.... a little early season shake down to get the legs back, and shake the rust out.

I would be in for that. I am a skier but who really cares. I also think louise would be a better choice

I hate sunshine. Louise or fernie is good. Especially fernie if you get the day right and they had feet of snow over night

Picked up some Flow Rift boots in Jasper this week.

To compliment my Flow NXT FS bindings I picked up last December.

BTW, I went to Marmot on Friday and the conditions were only ok.  They need a lot more snow.

I hit Silver Star on Friday.  Great snow, Great villiage, but the hill was so-so.  I don't like the run design.  Even though it's supposedly 2000 feet of possible vert, it seems like the runs are so short.  And it seems like you spend half your time chairing and t-baring to get to runs, and then they are over in no time.  There is also to many "Road" runs.  Too much flat.  My favorite hills are Sun Peaks and Fernie so far.
I run a Lib Tech MTX 161 with Flow bindings and Nitro Boots.

If you are referring to the powder gulch express, the map is deceiving.  It shows a black run underneath the chair, which would have you believe that they chair climbs steeply, and that all the runs in that area are somewhat steep.  But it's not the case.  PART of the runs down there are actually steep, and fun in deep snow.  But if you board, it sucks because you have to go flat out through a bunch of stupid flat sections to get to the steep parts.  I understand what you are saying JimmEh...That was the part of the hill I was looking forward to the most.  But in the end, I was disappointed.

aaaah, i thought there was a mid chair unload point (according to the map) so you could skip the flats.

woooo 8 inches of fresh at whitewater. getting ready to go now
