Idler/Tensioner Pulley Problems
« on: January 11, 2015, 04:19:53 pm »
So I found the problem to my squealing belt. It's the Tensioner pulley at the bottom of the engine. I was wondering if I would be able to run without the belt on there till I get enough money to replace the pulley itself.  I don't have a diagram to see what else it runs besides the a/c so I was hoping someone from here could help me out. Thanks

It's fine to run without this belt until you have a replacement idler.

Just don't enable your A/C, or your defroster (which engages your A/C)
Or unplug the compressor to just make sure.

So it being a calgary winter it would be a bad idea to do that since you have to defrost your windows everyday? Ill probably just try to find a way for my windows not to frost up then.
Thanks

Running without the belt won't harm anything. Unplug the A/C compressor if you're nervous, but I'm very confident that absolutely nothing will happen.

Thanks guys! i'll definetly replace it by myself now, it is a lot cheaper then bringing it to the shop like i was going to do.
