BRZ block heater plug location
« on: November 11, 2012, 02:40:12 pm »
I hate asking a dumb assay question like this but I've been over the damn car about three times and googled more times than that. I *cannot* find the friggin block heater plug on my wife's BRZ. Does anyone have an image or location description I could use? The car is too low and there's too many underbody panels to be able to chase the cable easily. If she comes into the garage and finds her car up on stands she'll flip out and probably kick me in the nuts so hard my eyes start bleeding. There's enough grief about modifying my own car as it is.

So let her take it to the dealership, and she can pay for it...

I look forwards to you removing the plug & putting in the heater w/o putting the car on jackstands...  Because I'm willing to bet $$ that it's on the bottom of the motor like all other Subaru.

Okay, maybe it's my poor grasp of North American english. I'm looking for the plug at the end of the cable, which is connected to the block heater I've already paid for. I would be putting the car on stands just so I could find the heater on the bottom of the motor and "chase the cable" to the plug.

I doubt there's one place they put the cable when they install it at the dealership. Its probably different for every mechanic who does the work. For instance, my Bugeye has the block heater coming out at the bottom of the front bumper, attached in the center. My wife's 06 Impreza has it tucked up right next to the battery, hidden so well I thought we didn't have one until I swapped the battery out.

Go home Subaru. You're drunk.

I know on the frs you need to drop the middle cross over piece on the headers.

Tonight I found out why I couldn't find the block heater plug. It's not installed yet. Wankers. Apparently, no-ones BRZ has a block heater installed yet.

So at some point in the future the dealership will call you back and tell you that the block heater you paid for has come in and will be installed?

The BRZ won't be leaving the safety of the garage unless I can guarantee being able to drive it in from the icy back lane. Those tires are dreadful in winter.

^ probably this

On a different note, I was driving behind a white FR-S on Deerfoot last Wednesday. It had an impressive sounding aftermarket exhaust and quite a bit of get up and go.

Haha I'm glad you solved this mystery!
Block heater's pretty easy to install.. I have 1 sitting in my parts pile that I have yet to install...
I'm way too lazy to drain coolant / refill and such :( I'll get to it one day.

Block heater install party with pizza?!
