Good customer or not, if they don't cover it, they won't.  Just find someone who will rather than argue with them.  Mine simply refused and I've been with them for 20+ years...  So, someone else gets my money.

My coverage is no different than my other vehicles with regards to deductible, etc...

Get ready to see lots of these bugeyes when they become legal this fall! (I know, I know, this one's a 2002 but you get the idea  ;D)

So maybe it's me but why are you guys so looking forward to getting these??  :-\

Why not? The bugeye STi was never available here and you get a lot more car for the same money as a GC8 (6 speed, Brembos, much stiffer chassis, etc.)

To be honest, I never liked the bugeye as much as the GC8 (Coming from a guy who owns a gc8  ;D) but I always look forward to seeing something unique. Plus the 6 speed gearbox is a +.

For me, I think it's pig ugly and yes, that is because of the headlights!

Sure, I understand the 6 speed and Brembo's are good but stiffer chassis? I'm not doubting it, just never heard that?  ???
It's also a fat pig  ;D

The GD is much stiffer than the GC8. Partly due to the fact that the strut towers are attached to the firewall.

But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.

Yep and also to do with the integrated roll hoop that's around the roof/B pillars.
Wiki states the GD chassis as being "148 percent and 82 percent stiffer in torsional and beam rigidity, respectively."

It's also almost 400 pounds heavier...
And?
Don't get me wrong, I can appreciate the power-to-weight of the GC8 as much as the next guy, but a little extra weight isn't always a bad thing.
With that weight, you end up with a much stiffer chassis and a much safer car, two things that I wouldn't call negatives.

And having the V7 engine in my wagon (which I freaking LOVE), it makes me just want to ditch it and grab the real thing once they are legal.

I'm probably wrong here but I think the ECU port changed to OBDII at this time making it possible for COBB Accessport, opening up tunability options.

Cobb doesn't support the JDM ecu's so these cars won't work with their accessport.

V7 ODBII is tuneable, you just need a tactrix cable and a proper pro-tune by someone like Sunny. It'd probably be way better than any default tune Cobb would have anyways...

I first fell in love with this style when the 300 hp 2004 STI came out in Canada.  I've noticed that 2002 seems to be the big model year change for a few manufacturers.  Subaru, BMW, etc... all seem to have "updated" their styles for that year...

Is it just me or have prices equaled North American for JDM vehicles?

For example, JDC Connection, who I bought my WRX from, has a 1999 S2000 on their site that is listed for $10,700.  Doing a quick search on eBay found at least 2 or 3 - 2000 S200 cars with lower mileage for the same money...

I get it that some vehicles are only available from JDM, but I thought e whole JDM experience was to get a lower mileage car at a great price.  Or to get something unique not available here as a toy, like an R33 or R34...

I'd have to think pretty hard about buying a JDM vehicle that I could get here for the same money, especially if I could get it here with less mileage and not have to worry about the whole RHD parts, repair and insurance issue.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love my V2 WRX and an extremely glad I bought it...

Yes. The NSX also goes for the same price when importing from Japan.
We're hitting the point where local bugeyes will be cheaper as well.

To be fair, although "performance orientated Honda's" have increased in Japan and are starting to level out the price difference between North America, 10k for a S2K is really cheap. If your finding that price in North America, the car has 150-200k miles, is beat on worse than a trailer park orewhay, and is in US dollars.

The first link you posted is one of the lowest I've seen! If there are more that pop up for that price then I'd say you have a good point.

The second one is the price I paid for my 03 with 49km three years ago, which shows the car might be going up in price (fingers crossed).

I paid 28k for mine... '06 with 46k. I've seen a few 07/08 go for 29-30k with 1/4-1/2 the mileage of mine. A lot of the 00-02 I've seen are anywhere from 12-17k. I still have a kijiji email up for s2000, blue GD sti, and the NSX. Don't know why, but I do.

I went and looked at that car, he has a stack or receipts etc for it etc.  Its a dad selling it for his son apparently who is out of country now.
I don't name things I know I'm going to sell eventually. Hence why I'd never name any kids I had.

Now we're starting to really get up there in km's. Most S2K's (Ap1 or Ap2) with over the 150-200km range go for under 15.... at least what I've seen on the S2K classified fb group.

The high km ones would make great track cars.

I have kijiji emailing me for mr2s... I don't know if that's a good thing or not.

Side note, the jdm mk3 MR2s are going for reasonable costs.

Average going price is 2500 CAD...

Compared to a year older with identical mileage.
