Ahead  lies the story of Marvin, the whip and experimentation into something completely different.

First, I bought something, named it Rusty... and it didn't work. But I had the taste of a light, quick, quirky little car. I wanted more. So....

Off to Kijiji I went, looking for another dose of stupidity. Wait, no. I mean deals.

What I found, was this: a 1986 MR2, sunroof (I really wanted T-tops, but those are in high demand) in green with minimal rust, a meh bondo job on the rear quarters, complete interior, stock 1986 wheels that are have very little curb rash (if any) and two sets of tires. Picked it up Friday night, put in 30 bucks to fill the tank from empty, and proceeded drive. Rusty, bless it's cheap carcass, has now become a surplus of parts.

I think I'll live without the t-tops.

It is so weird seeing your car behind you and wanting to drive both.

Oh my, that's quite the ru- MR2 you have there! Nice find!! If you don't mind me asking, how many km does the car have on it??

I vote you make this car you autox itchbay this summer then I won't have to feel left out, being the only guy with practically non-existent rockers  >:D
(Plus I bet this thing would be a lot of fun!)

Is it Supercharged?
If the sea was vodka, and I was a duck.
I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.
But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.

Yet.

Honestly if you are going to the trouble of swapping from a 4AGE to a GZE, you may as well just swap in a 3SGTE.

GZEs are incredibly hard to find these days, and are getting more and more expensive.

and I can certainly say that the supercharger is A MASSIVE pain in the assay to get working properly, and finding a supercharger that isn't uckfayed is almost impossible.

I'm onl. Sticking that route because I want to do something different then the mk1.5 that everyone does... But I'm also crazy and willing to put up with the itshay that the supercharge r throws at me. Not worth it IMHO

I was looking to stay with the 4AGE, but to the blacktop. Throw one in this beast, one in the other rusted out Toyota in the drive way, and proceed to have shenanigans. But I'll definitely look into the 3gste.

I didn't realise that they also had a "trunk" (no, not the frunk).

Thanks, I think help is more along the lines of what i may require. It's  actually cause of your car that I made me pull the trigger.

Yeah no problem just shoot me a PM!

there isnt a part on my car I haven't pulled off lol. I'm not expert at all, but I'm certai not very familiar with how this little car comes apart and goes together...

I also have the Big Green Toyota service manual for the N/A and SC cars so that might be helpful for you...

And as far as engines that are NA I might also look at a silver top if you can get one cheap enough

Well mine is gonna be bonkers but not quite that bonkers...

Those group N cars had an aluminum 4A block if I recall and were AWD... Not for mere mortals...

But I'm gonna be aiming for like 350hp on the bottle ;)

I believe the one I linked had something closer to...1000HP?

BEAMS all the way!!

Does a 4th Gen 3gse beams share the same mounting points as the 3gste? I assume that it does because it's the same architecture, but one never knows until it's asked.
The price even looks to be similar to what I was expecting for the 4age blacktop.. Interesting. That's a very good potential. 200 horses NA.

Smurf sent me a link to another mr2, with a working engine, I may grab that and swap the working engine in. We'll see what next weekend brings.

I'm not at all sure. Looking at it a little more in depth, the engine was used in the MR2, Caldina, and RAV-4, all of which are transverse applications, so it might work.

All signs are pointing to the way of "it can be done", which I may eventually do.
Oh, look, someone has done it: http://www.mr2.com/forums/threads/97603-My-SW11-Build
That's definitely in for consideration!

But right now, I have three priorities.

1) get it in my driveway (yeah, it's still at the seller's place until I can get the trailer there Saturday)
2) make it run, cheaply.
3) take 'er fer a rip.

Once winter hits, body work and other wonderful types of shenanigans will be done. Like an engine swap, and some less rusty panels. Or new sheet metal.

The second aw11, Donut needed to tow his home.

I knew the engine was gonna go, I've been preparing for it. Been looking, haven't been finding. Jory, the great influence he is, has been sending me links.
