DIY: 5 Minute Temp DRLs V4 STI
« on: April 12, 2015, 03:53:47 pm »
Thought I would post this quick DIY as I have seen some sketchy diys for DRLs that run the headlights off of the power through your headlight switch.

This is temporary and turns on your park lights when the ignition is on got me passed my OOP without any questions.

First:
Open your fuse box and run a wire from the top of your ignition fuse (this keeps the lead fused in the event of a short). I used 18 gauge wire and just stuck it in with the fuse.

Take off the trim under your steering column and locate the 4 pin connector then run the wire to it.
I took a peek at the wiring diagram and figured out that to run the park lights you just need +12v on the pin pictured.
Just jam it in and tape it I put a small amount of solder on it just so it is a little stiffer.

Very easy and more importantly wont overheat/burnout your headlight switch!

This works on my V4 GF8 STI not sure what other cars it could work on.
